We stayed July 28-29, 2012 too! We only intended to stay one night, but were enjoying ourselves so much that we decided to stay another night. The room was not available for the 2nd night, so we decided to go ahead and switch rooms. The staff was extremely accomodating our requests. Both rooms were studios and had been recently renovated. The room has a murphy bed -- sofa by day and bed by night which was remarkably comfortable. A kitchenette with a dishwasher, frig and sink. Nice flat screen HD TV. Immaculate. The bathroom in the first room had a beautiful walk-in shower (the 2nd bathroom was smaller). We were amazed at the high quality materials used throughout the room. All of the staff are very friendly and work tirelessly to maintain the property. An easy walk to the casinos. We also visited the free beach and enjoyed lunch at a little cafe there. We borrowed the bikes and took a nice bike ride on the extensive trail systems around South Lake Tahoe. I did a couple of loads of laudry (free -- just purchase soap in the office for 75 cents) I laughed when I read the other review ... my words exactly ... from the street it looked very retro ... but I was pleasantly surprised! An excellent value! I would stay there again!

Stayed July 28-29, 2012. We really enjoyed our room #206. Has a big frig, one big bed and a hide-a-way bed. 2 TV's one in bedroom area and one in main room. Very clean. You can bring your own meats and use the BBQ's on outside patio. They serve free donuts and coffee in mornings, they have a computer in coffee room where you can check emails. Only a five minute walk to casinos (Harvey's). We used the free beach pass, which was a very nice beach area where you can rent paddle boards/boats and has a small restaurant too. You can also rent umbrellas and chairs down at the beach (we brought our own) You can also use the hotels bikes (looks like a nice variety of bikes) and they have free washing machine and dryer (I think it's free?) Across the hotel was a huge shopping area and Heavenly's Gondola is in this shopping area. This hotel is a little retro on first impression, but our room was very modern.

We arrived on July 15, 2012 and were met by a very friendly staff. We stayed in room 204, and it was a beautiful one bedroom unit with nice furnishings. I really liked the pictures that decorated the rooms. The bathroom had a really nice double cobblestone shower. There was a flat screen tv in the bedroom and the living room. This resort is walking distance to almost everything. We took the Dinner Cruise (took the shuttle), and went to see Alex Ramon in Illusion Fusion (a must see performance). We enjoyed waking up and having the free breakfast that the resort provided. We walked down to Chevy's Mexican restaurant, which was great. We enjoyed the free barbecue that the resort provided one day, and the activities that they provided. They also had free dvds to check out. There is a street market next to the Horizon Casino that was fun shopping at. We enjoyed walking down to the private beach access that the resort provided for Lake Tahoe. We rented a Sea-Doo to get to experience the beautiful clear blue lake. What a fantastic vacation!

What a disappointment; our small 1 bedroom was filled with 80's decor (brass, dusty rose) and most walls were mirrored! Not like the photos on the website. The staff was friendly.
This place desparately needs an update! Full size refrig should be downsized to counter height to provide more counter space. The second pool was closed for much of our stay; another disappointment. It would have been nice to get away away from the noise of the busy road while being pool side.

We booked our room through Resort Vacation Certificates. Looking through the reviews, we were optimistic. Greeted by the very friendly and helpful staff, we drove around back to the west side rooms. We had a great parking spot near the stairs to our top level room. Our room was one of the remodeled rooms. It was very nice! It was similar to a one bed room hotel room. The bed pulled down right over the couch. So by day we sat on the couch, by night we had a very nice, soft, comfy bed. I really enjoyed having the dimmer lights when the bed pulled down, we could access lights to read by. We went shopping the first night so we could have food to munch on and put in our (not mini) fridge. It was really nice to be able to go out to eat, and bring back leftovers that we could reheat. We also had a dishwasher! The bathroom was very nice also. Towels were very soft too! We had the room booked for a week's stay and had housekeeping at least twice maybe three times while we were there. Read through the binder they have in the room, it gives very detailed information and helpful advice for your stay there. It had a great location too. A nice walk down to the beach, across the road from the Heavenly ski area (which had tons of shops and places to eat), and close to the casinos. I enjoyed having the room facing the west, so we didn't hear the traffic from 50. However, they are re-doing many rooms beside and below our room so about 8:30 you can hear them start working and then end maybe around 5ish. They were very nice, and polite, and if you don't care like us, the noise and construction didn't bother us. I would say the front pool and hot tub are 10 times cleaner and more up-to-date then the back pool and hot tub. After a couple of nights sitting in the back hot tub (which was a little scary), we found they closed it off...so they may be redoing it! We stayed June 3rd- 10th. They also had free Dvd's to rent, older but if you have nothing else to do go ahead and watch one! Free popcorn, donuts and juice in the morning, and coffee in the main office. Kids were not suppose to be in the front pool from 2-5pm daily Adult swim time, however no one really enforced those rules. There weren't many kids, so once again, it didn't bother us. They do have larger pool towels for our use too. Ask at the front desk. Laundry is free (two washers and dryers), 75 cents for laundry soap and for the dryer sheets. We saw people using a grill that was provided in the front, and bikes to rent. At check in they gave us the week's daily activities with descriptions. All in all, it was worth staying there. We loved our little room, we had a flat screen tv too, kitchen table with two chairs, a small side chair, a small table with two chairs outside our room, plenty of pillows, and blankets, many drawers, a small area to hang up clothes once we took out the pillows, and a kitchen stocked with dishes, glasses, wine glasses, mugs, silverware, cooking ware (pots, pans, side dishes, utensils), and soap/paper towels, dish towel, sponge, dish rag. There was a two burner flat top stove that did not work or was not hooked up, but we found a 2 burner hot plate stored in the cupboard below that we plugged in and used. Oh and no oven. They also had free internet wireless connection in the room too. If you're wondering if you should stay here, I would come back and stay again. If you have any questions, please call them up as they were very helpful and kind answering ours. Thank you Stardust for taking very good care of us!

Room Tip: See my review for more info: West side rooms are quieter, no major roads around this side however th...

You need to set the expectations right first. It is a very old looking property. The parking spaces in front of the rooms were converted into an extra seating area for a terrace restaurant, so with a huge canopy and 40-50 chairs and tables, I figured I couldn't even park properly. Inside, to rooms seem big, with mirrors to enhance the roominess. The toiletries were bare minimum, nothing to do a song and dance about as a previous review indicates. The good stuff is they have free popcorn next to the reservation counter and their staff is very friendly and cooperative. They even provide free DVD rentals s to play in the rooms. The bad: they have a coffee machine. So we woke up, put water in it and discovered they have no coffee bags, sugar, creamer etc. We called up the office, only to be told they do NOT provide that and if we want coffee to please come up to the reservation office to get it. That was very very weird. They also had two showers in the bath, but after struggling with one for several minutes, I discovered that doesn't work, then saw another one on the opposite wall, that worked. Strange way of doing things. They sure wake you up nice and proper asking you to use your intelligence real early in the day. Overall, I would stay elsewhere for the same money. Oh the ceiling fans make a horrible kuttack kuttack in both rooms the whole night.
