“Time Share Salesman Stationed in Lobby / Rundown motel”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

We went on Labor Day weekend, so I get that they are going to jack up the prices. But for the rate we paid the place was really run down and crappy. The comforter on the bed looked like it had been in use since the 70's and the walls of the place were grungy and dinged up. Overall felt kind of dirty. I spent the night trying to stop the shower from dripping- kept me up all night. The one nice thing was the breakfast.. which was quickly ruined by a guy approaching us as we ate, claiming to be the motel's "activities manager" who "needed to give us our complimentary coupons" - as he tried to get us to go to what was obviously a time share presentation. He was doing a really hard used car salesman routine, pulling out all the stops to get us to go to what I later saw on some sign up sheets he had left on a table in the lobby was for "Diamond Resorts International" - which he did not make mention of. Anytime you see the word "International" in a group's name you know it's for a religious cult or it's a scam. We got rid of him quickly but it still pisses me off that the motel let him be there in the first place, I know he's just doing his (scam) job. After this experience, not really thinking of going back to Tahoe anytime soon let alone buying a time share. If you have to try and trick people into going to a sales pitch by offering gift cards maybe it's not a good deal? So yeah if you're staying here make sure to ask the "activities manager" how his sales leads are going.

I love staying here. Book directly with hotel, ask for Mike. He is the owner...nice guy. I have stayed here with my dog several times while skiing at Heavenly and Kirkwood. Bus to Heavenly ski lifts stops in front of hotel. Walk to casinos and many food/drink choices on Hwy 50 near Stateline.

Rooms are clean. Great value for the price!

Free breakfast...it's just OK, but it's hard to screw up making your own waffles and toasting a bagel and spreading with cream cheese. Staff is friendly, helpful.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have a microwave, although they all have a mini-fridge. Community kitchen and extra mi...

I had a short notice opportunity to stay one night in Tahoe and found this motel. Great value for the money. Room was somewhat small, but was very clean. Breakfast was not the standard continental breakfast one would expect, but was a good hot breakfast buffet. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. Easy four block walk to back of Harvey's Casino

Room Tip: part of hotel is 2 story, other part is 3 story. In small motels, I prefer upper floor rooms, as th...

Small but tidy room, comfortable pillow top bed, redone bathroom with awesome shower head, fridge, balcony, and a respectable continental breakfast. They do claim to have free WiFi but since we were in the building across the street the signal was spotty. Very close to Edgewood which is why we stayed there. The staff even loaned me her personal USB charger for my phone.

From the outside, the place looks run down. Don't judge a book by its cover. For the value we had a great stay. Of curse they did bump up the prices for the Celebrity Golf Tourney.

We stayed in room 410 at second floor on the same building with the office and breakfast room. I believed that is the old building. Our room had 2 queen beds. Be careful if you get that room when you open the door, the door can hit you right back in the head. The door doesn't open all the way, it open maybe a 1/4 of the way because the bed doesnt allowed the door to open. That room is a fire hazard. Thanks god we are skinny people otherwise you can not get in the room. I would not recommend this place to a family. It was the three of us, our teenager son, my husband and myself. Not a good place for us for the price that we pay per night. That place should be inspected and close down. The building across the street looks more nicer but I don't know how the rooms look. We did not try the pool. Breakfast ok only. We ask for a room close to the pool and the receptionist told us that they don't have any rooms with two beds on the side. The wether was nice and we did not spent very much time in that claustrophobic room. The location is good but for the same money we could stay in a nicer place. In that area are many motels and hotels and almost most of them offer the same price per night.

I think you may have the wrong hotel. Our second floor rooms across the street from our office are 200 numbers and no doors are close to each other. I am sorry you had a bad experience at the hotel you stayed. We are at the Rodeway Inn by Choice Hotels and we would love to have you experience our place next time to Lake Tahoe.

We stayed 3 nights in room 219, on the back side of the building across from the office. The room was spotless and housekeeping did a great job keeping us supplied with clean towels. The bathroom was very clean, brightly lit with good water pressure. The king bed was very comfortable. We used the community kitchen (next to the ice machine) to snack on some chocolate eclairs we bought at Safeway. The free breakfast was delicious with real scrambled eggs, a choice of cereals, waffles, etc.
The location was within walking distance to a private beach and the casinos but quiet and off the beaten path.
Only downside - elevator had strange smell (so use the stairs) and room was somewhat dated.
Bottom line - we'd stay there again.

Room Tip: Room 219 was fine for us.

Your feedback is very important to us and we can assure you that we will use this information to do everything possible to create an enjoyable experience for our guests. Our winter season is full of snow and it is on the guests things as they load up in the elevator and hallways. We do a deep cleaning in halls, etc. and it is so hard to keep the carpets clean. Thank you for your input it helps us understand where we need to improve. We hope to see you again soon!
