“Price Gouging!”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

We did a road trip and by chance ended up in Lake Tahoe for July 4. It was close to the beach and we had an awesome view of the fireworks from where we posted (not at he hotel). We tried to book a hotel in advance, but after a bait and switch with air b&b, we had to book last minute on Expedia. This was one of only 2 hotels left, and this one was more reasonable. The hotel felt cheap, the bed and pillows were not very comfortable. I can say the place was clean, though minor damage was noted on the furniture. The shower was warm, but water leaked everywhere! There was no microwave or mini fridge. I head a group of young men trying to pay for the room. The one with the reservation had his wallet stolen and had no ID to confirm his identity. His friend offered to pay, but they almost didn't let him and wanted to charge the "max fee" which was around $500 a night. They let him keep his reservation in the end, but charged $10 for an extra person. The wii fii was free, but unusable!!! I would never stay here again, if at all possible

Room Tip: Close to El Dorado Beach

Positive--it was cheap. Negatives- MOUSE in room, paint chipping off of walls, drawers falling out of cabinets, pool cover in scum, no chairs at poolside for observers of swimmers.

After that experience we were unable to stomach the thought of eating breakfast offiered.

Once front end staff was aware of issues there was no reconcilliation.

Room Tip: Make sure that you thoroughly check the room before unpacking your goods. You may find some extra...

The rooms were big, clean, comfortable and supplied well. There was good coffee throughout the day, and a coffee maker in the room. The hotel is older (big tv's no micro/fridge, dated things) BUT, it's very charming and old tahoe (I actually really liked the room!) The pool was beautiful and the hot tub was really nice! (if anything nearly too hot!) although it was ice cold the second day...not really sure what happened there, maybe it was chemical/clean day. The hotel was quiet, safe and in a good location.

Check in was fast, friendly and efficient.

Internet was at first, spotty. Although in Tahoe, we'd agreed to go mostly technology free. We were going to look up hiking trails etc. The second night, there was no internet..."couldn't connect" my partner/boyfriend is a computer technician. He went to the front desk to see what the problem was...well long story short, the person that was night manager was using it for himself and turning off the wifi (that's not the technical explanation, but the jist of it) again, that's not here nor there and honestly in this day and age, I have a smartphone that covered what I needed to do...(next morning, however many guests were in the lobby complaining about something the management was doing...though the guests were unaware and told it was hacked or some lame story)

that, however isn't why the poor rating.

At about 9pm in the evening, after my boyfriend returned to the room, they immediately un-did the "repair" that provided the hotel guests with wifi (and went back to using it for themselves) he called the front desk to let them know that wifi was once again failing and that if they would move a certain cable it'd be fixed...but...they didn't pick up the phone.

I walked over to the office and rang the bell to let them know. They didn't respond.

Now this is concerning, I get it, he wanted to use the internet. his own words "I need the internet more than anyone." (whatever) but to not answer the phone? So I call Days Inn CORPORATE to complain (not about the internet, but about them NOT answering the phone) what if there was a bathroom leak? what if someone was locked out? some emergency? I spoke with Rose (employee # 65391) at Days Inn who put me on hold, and tried to call from there. She tried a couple of times, and again, they didn't pick up.

I filed a complaint with Days Inn and also with Wyndham. I try to write solid reviews, in hopes it helps whoever visits after me...for no other reason than to help other travelers etc. The good the bad and the ugly are in my reviews. But, I travel with my children and when there is a glaring concern (front desk not answering the phone) that can involve safety issues...

This hotel is a lovely property, it really is...not modern...but nice. If they don't want to offer wifi...then don't...not really an issue. But, the not picking up the phone thing...not ok.

Room Tip: we had two rooms, 27 and 20...both were quite nice. a/c worked well, plenty of room, good selections...

We called into the Days Inn by chance, looking for an affordable place to stay and explore the stunning Lake Tahoe area, and it turned out to be a brilliant choice..

Clean, comfortable and affordable AND the tariff dropped for the second day,..- what a nice surprise! So we stayed on and enjoyed the convenience of the location,.. just down the road from local shops and services and close to the marina with its excellent Riva waterfront restaurant.

Breakfast was included with the room, but the disposable plates and cutlery lower the tone a little. But all in all, (including the amazing colour scheme in the bathroom? OMG!),.. a place we would recommend and would revisit any time.

Room Tip: Don't park under the pine tree outside rooms 10 and 11!.. (It drops pine cones and bird's bu...
