Wow, what a wonderful experience! I am very happy we found out about this restaurant! Amazingly good food and outstanding good service! This was the best meal we had ever had in Malta. Would never miss it for the world whenever we are in Malta in the future. Simply outstanding!

Last night, we went to dine at Vecchia Dogana. Nice location, and beautiful decor.... but that's all there was to it. I am writing this review, whilst battling with severe food poisoning. Here is my story:

Just as soon as we sit down, i am admiring the ambience around me, and i'm thinking to myself, this is going to be a good night. Little did i know i was so wrong!!

There i am looking at the glass panes, on one side reflections of boats, lights, buildings on the other side i see reflections of cars passing by. I tilt my head slightly upwards, AND WHAT DO I SEE!!!!?????

The glass pane reflecting the floor above us, was reflecting what was going on above us! Oh my god, i was in shock! I see a man, sitting down on a chair in front of a water dispenser. And guess what he's doing! Filling up used Aqua Panna bottles! I tried to catch of photo of him doing the act with my mobile, but couldn't capture a decent photo, since i was seeing the reflection on the glass pane.

Unlucky for us, we ordered 2 bottles of what we thought was Aqua Panna. I look at our bottles and surprise surpriseeeeee they had no seal! OBVIOUSLY! Ohhh how i wished i could tell them something, but i kept my mouth shut, just in case the chef would mess with the food i had ordered. Which in the end he did, otherwise i wouldnt be sitting here feeling as sick as a dog!

We order starters, my boyfriend ordered mushrooms and prawns in puff pastry and i ordered parma and rucola salad. Ohhh how i love the taste of these two together! Guess what i was served?... Drum roll please! Parma and lettuce instead! Booo hooo!

I wave at the waiter, and explain to him that what he served me is not what i had ordered. He went back to the kitchen, and i see the chef swearing and saying all kinds of things, and then the waiter comes out with a bowl of rucola! I couldn't help but tell him this time... ARE YOU SERIOUS? Another waiter comes by and tells me " I'm sorry but our chef did a mistake" and none of them offered me to change the plate! I couldn't believe it!

For main course i had sea bass 'Al Sale' . The fish tasted ok, but i doubt it was fresh! Otherwise i wouldn't be rushing in and out of the bathroom, feeling like i'm about to die! What a horrible experience!

La Vecchia Dogana, NEVER AGAIN!

In Malta Good Restaurants tend to be a bit pricey and none of them is really 'value for money'. BUT taking that into account this serves very good seafood pasta amongst other dishes.
