Lovely pub which we’ve been meaning to visit before now. It also has a really nice garden but due to the time of year it was understandably empty and it looks like they’re taking the opportunity to regrow the grass after a busy summer so don’t let it put you off.
We booked in advance, which was necessary as it got quite busy and there was a nice atmosphere. It’s pretty relaxed and not particularly smart and seems to be dog friendly too with a bowl of water by the bar which you need to watch out for to avoid stepping in! Good range of beers and wine and very good, friendly service. Staff could not do enough for us, regularly checking we had everything we needed without being invasive.
Great food and although the menu is relatively small, we visited on a Sunday so perhaps it’s bigger on other days. It did cater for most tastes though and all of our dishes were fantastic. Not huge portions so there was room for pudding!
Following on from the point about being dog friendly, watch where you sit as one of our party sat on a bench with cushions on and when she stood up her black trousers were covered in what we can only assume was dog hair…
All in all, a great pub in a lovely location for a nice, lazy lunch.
