If you want relaxation, time to unwind and experience bliss (and have the most delicious banana pancakes), then head to Poinciana! The place was just magical. The staff were so lovely and friendly. Poinciana is the sort of place where you can have three massages a day have dinner by sunset and relax by the pool till your hearts content. The location made it even more special (and a great way to see the 'real' Bali), you get to see all the little remote villages and watch day to day life of the Balinese people. The rooms were lovely and clean. I would recommend the ocean view rooms, a little bit more expensive, but definitely worth it. I have never felt more pampered and relaxed than at Poinciana.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra and get the ocean view room.

We stayed for a week at Poinciana to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of life in Singapore - this resort turned out to be the perfect choice and provided us with the most rewarding holiday experience we have ever enjoyed.
We did absolutely nothing for the first two days but sit by the pool and relax and enjoy the excellent service then watch the sunset in the evening after a romantic dinner on the terrace overlooking the Bali sea.
Nyoman and her wonderful staff provide such warm, friendly and attentive service that it makes a stay at Poinciana a truly memorable experience. After a week we felt more like part of their family than paying guests.
Expect no noise except for the waves gently lapping on the shore, birds singing and geckos chirping. (Don't expect TV, WiFi or other electronic intrusions into this peaceful oasis – the one exception is that you can get good cell-phone reception here)
The resort is right on the sea front with a black volcanic sand & pebble beach and coral reefs with brightly coloured tropical fish just a few meters offshore - great for leisurely snorkelling.
(Snorkelling gear and beach towels provided free of charge) I recommend you use the plastic shoes provided for a walk on the beach as the pebbles are tough on bare feet.
The resort and villas are all tastefully designed and decorated. Facilities include four poster beds, air conditioning, shower, ensuite and a small refrigerator stocked with cold beer and soft drinks (at reasonable prices). This resort represents excellent value for money – accommodation, meals and drinks at much better prices than Kuta or Nusa-Dua. (Wine is expensive but that is true all over Bali – switching to the local Bintang beer or a cocktail is a good alternative!)
Poinciana is situated in a secluded location near Tembok on the north coast of Bali (S8.1521, E115.4189 if you want to find it on Google Earth) so there are no entertainment venues, nightlife or modern shopping centres nearby; just Balinese village life quietly going along as it has done for years. The trip from Ngurah Rai airport (Denpasar) took just over 3 hours.
There are local shops in Tejakula but for ATM, banks and more shopping then Singaraja is a better choice about 40km west; ask Nyoman or her staff for local shopping tips and ask one of them to go with you if you are not expert at bargaining and need help at the local markets (or you can expect to pay tourist prices).
You will need cash (Rupiah or USD) to pay the bill and Rupiah for most local shopping as debit or credit cards are not widely accepted.
Local diversions include excellent diving, fishing trips with the Tembok village fishermen (Rp 300,000 for 3 hours) and chauffeur driven tours of the local attractions.
Our friend and excellent driver, Ngurah, was very safe and extremely careful on the difficult Balinese roads and took us to see fabulous mountain views, forests, rice paddies, volcanic lakes, temples and shopping for batik shirts, sarong and local handicrafts. (Car with driver approx Rp 500,000 a day + tips depending on trip distance and duration).

The restaurant food was very good, fresh and excellent value - the menu is not huge so if you want something different then just ask and they are very accommodating.

During your relaxing stay at Poinciana, if you are feeling in a generous mood why not ask Nyoman how your can help the local village schools in Tembok. She provides assistance to local elementary schools, some of which have extremely limited facilities and need basic materials such as uniforms, shoes, school bags and stationery supplies. Our visit to a local school to donate writing and drawing materials was a wonderful and humbling experience. (We bought the school supplies at very good prices in Singaraja from a stationery store that gave us a hefty discount when we explained where the supplies were going). Our only regret was that we did not give the school more.

Do yourself a favour and spend some time at Poinciana – you will thoroughly enjoy it!

We LOVED this resort, everything was perfect. The food was cheap and delicious, the room was so beautiful, the staff were so friendly, helpful and the owner was so lovely.
We really couldn't fault anything.
The beach wasn't very nice but that seemed the case on the whole of the island.
This quiet, serene resort is a world away from the chaos of Kuta and Legian, it truly felt like a tropical paradise.
The trip over is really beautiful and a great way to see the island.
I got a massage everyday they were so cheap and amazing.
I would recommend this resort for anyone, it would be great for families but it was really romantic for a couple. The price was so reasonable I think poinciana is amazing value!

I discovered Poinciana Resort while browsing on Tripadvisor and came here due to good reviews and personal taste for secluded, high quality, locations amid sea and tropical nature.

Nice comments found on the internet revealed totally justified with roomy, very well kept and simply beautiful small houses just in front of the sea, surrounded by gorgeous gardens and excellent service from a smiling and a riendly staff.

This small paradise is the result of the hard work of Nyoman, the owner, who is a women of heart, good taste and energy are really cares of her guests.

For me, a must stay during a next trip to Bali for a few days of full relaxation closer to tropical nature and (very) far away from the crowds.
