On arrival, we immediately noticed the place had not been cleaned for us. So dirty we estimated 2+ months since a proper clean. It took 3 tries by the owners to make it liveable!! 'Unacceptable'. not our words, the male owners words ! He explained he had little to do with the property.. The female was rude and made ridiculous excuses for why it was dirty. She ignored us for the rest of our week, despite close contact. She wouldn't even look at us. RUDE ! There was so much dirt and hair on the floors that when you moved, you could see it all move too... I put out 30 large spiders during our week there, incl 10 in the first half hour. Unlucky ? no. The webs were old, established and in every corner, floor to ceiling. Fridge? dirty, kitchen surfaces? dirty, toilet area? dirty. The loo brush was disgusting. Dog poo on the lawns outside the property. I could go on and on.... This was our yearly holiday. We have complained to Toad Hall Cottages, the agent. Despite the owner's admission that this place was unacceptably dirty and our experience that it remained dirty but liveable after 3 attempts at cleaning, a cheap bottle of wine left in the kitchen is to be our only compensation... On pointing out the general dirtiness, the female made the whole thing truly embarrassing and awkward. Toad Hall Cottages manager, Adam Ford answered our emails in such a way that it was hard to believe he'd read them properly . I would not recommend this company or let to anyone.

We have just stayed at Pool Barn for our 2 week summer holiday with our children (12 & 9). What a great choice we made to come to Pool Barn. The location is on a farm stabling horses deep in the Devon countryside among rolling hills and dark tree lined lanes. So peaceful at all times it's a star gazers paradise. That said just a very short drive to all the wonderful attractions of the South Hams and Cornwall. The barn is perfect for a family there's lots of space inside and out and it has a very bright open living feel. Lovely views out to the duck pond too. Advertised as a dog friendly let and although we don't own one it would be ideal for walks. Happily there were no doggy wiffs at all. It was very clean and tidy as you would expect. A bonus was the sky TV with sport and movies and fantastic tennis court free to use. The owners were very friendly and provided a lovely welcome pack and fresh flowers on arrival. Although they live nearby the barn is very private. Really can't wait to return for another old fashioned English holiday here. Thankyou!!
This was our second stay in Pool Barn previous stay was in September 2015. Lovely barn fabulous location and very dog friendly. Great base for visiting the surrounding area, lots of dog friendly beaches and pubs will definitely stay again!
