We went here on a Friday at 5pm so we still in time for the two courses for £11.95. The service was great and our food came after around twenty minutes. I had the cheese and onion pie which was really nice then the Eton mess. My friend had the chicken from the specials board which looked lovely. Great service, nice atmosphere and we can't wait to go back!

My wife and I had a short weekend break at The Craven Heifer last month. Really comfortable room, good food, and a very warm welcome by the hosts.

Even the locals were really friendly and made us feel at home!

Handy location for some very nice scenery, we'll definitely be back.

we stayed overnight with a party of friends at the start of our holidays and had booked rooms in advance, so we were not entirely sure what it would be like, but we were all pleasantly surprised with the quality of the hotel. Not the cheapest, but in my opinion good value for money. (we have stayed at several different hotels this holiday and have paid more for much less!!)
Our room was clean, with a comfotable bed and big bathroom. Good water pressure in the shower (i hate showers that dont get you wet), and fluffy bathrobes finished off a long day on the back of a motorbike.
Food was very good and the staff made every effort to accommodate our requests including changes to the menu to suit our friend who is a vegetarian.
Pit that it wasnt warm enough to sit outside as the area looked inviting - maybe some outdoor heaters would extend the use further in to the season.
Our only negative comment is that there is no real bar sitting area, there is a couple of easy chairs adjacent to the bar, but this is a busy restaurant and the area was full of people standing. the tables in that area were also set up for meals so ther was no where to meet up with our friends for a pre dinner drink except at the dining table.

I have stayed at The Craven Heifer on a good number of occasions, and have always found the staff to be exceptionally pleasant, friendly and helpful (this includes restaurant staff as well).

The rooms have proved to be modern, clean and well appointed. They don't go in for so-called 'charm' i.e. lots of tat, trinkets and chintz. On my most recent visit I was given a room in the new block. I found access to my downstairs room from the car park very easy, and I was given essential but willing help to transport bags etc. - all important if you are disabled and travelling alone

The new rooms are just stunning. My room (I think it was room 10) was spacious, super clean, even glamorous but in a tasteful way. The lighting, appliances, shower & ensuite are state of the art.
Being set back from the road meant peace and quiet (apart from some clown shouting as he made his drunken way home on Friday evening). Good curtains and a very comfortable bed all help if you are an insomniac!

Good Wi-Fi, easy to use TV, hospitality tray, gowns & toiletries in the ensuite all make for a very comfortable and relaxing stay. This hotel is a good base for a vacation as it gives easy access to beautiful places in the area.

There is a thriving restaurant in the main hotel. The atmosphere and ambience is really good - happy, lively, popular (but not noisy on my visits). They don't blast you from every angle with loud pop music, either, which is a bonus.

There is a good, interesting menu - now including tapas. Possibly there are too many choices on the menu and it might be better to strive for excellence with fewer dishes.

Not the cheapest place, but then there aren't many good hotels in the area! Excellent value for money, though.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to be comfortable, well appointed and quiet, but do mention the fact if you have any...
