Description: Dear Guests welcome to the Fleet Twyning. We are a beautiful riverside pub on the edge of the river Avon. We pride ourselves on home cooked fresh food along with our traditional Wadworth Ales. We get extremely busy in the summer time as we are a very popular destination pub and wait time on food can vary from 10 minutes to 1 hour, so we ask you to be very patient with us as we cook all your food to order from fresh produce. In the winter it is advisable to book in advance as our tables get booked early on for weekends and early evenings.

“Go for the view not the food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2013

We had dinner after 7pm so ordered off the main menu. I was surprised there was no wine menu at the table and we were not offerred one. We shared a baked camembert to start which we both enjoyed. My partner found it very hard to find something from the main courses to choose so he had the pan fried chicken and chorizo medallions with rocket and parmesan shavings and roasted red pepper and sundried tomato dressing, and asked them to serve it as a main. This sounded like it was full of complimenting full flavours but was a huge disappointment. It was very bland and you could not taste the chorizo at all.
I had the Chicken and Mediterranean vegetable espetada skewer, marinated in chilli and lemon grass with a fragrant vegetable cous cous, mini Greek salad & a tomato and harissa sauce. Again this sounded like it was brimming with flavours but disappointed too. The chicken was dry and the aubergine undercooked. We expected so much more as all the right ingredients were listed on the menu but justice was not done to this.
The place was very busy outside by the river but suggest this is a place for chips and a pint, not dinner or a special occasion. What a shame.

“Some Setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

Idyllic setting and beautifully refurbished the Fleet is a welcoming place to be. We arrived on an early Tuesday afternoon and the place was heaving. Due to this it took a while to order food but when it came it was excellent. The many and varied seating areas, both inside and out, are very imaginative and not like anything we have seen before. We will be returning to sample the evening menu and something tells me it will be an enjoyable experience.

“Summer limits”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2013

The Fleet summer menu is a bit limited and lacking imagination, I would have expected to see at least one salad option but not so, ( what happened to the sticky duck?), and they insist on sticking to those awful, greasy tasting three- times fried 'chunky chips'. It's also a bit pricey for a mediocre offer - shan't rush back

“Lovely setting.......”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013

Went to the The Fleet on sun 30th June with some friends, first impressions were what a lovely place ,nice big patio area looking over the river ....so far so good ,found a table on the patio straight away .....result !
Then went to the bar to order 4 roast dinners only to be told that roasts can only be served inside ,not what I wanted to hear .Roasts were priced at £12 ... not sure if that is expensive for the area as we as we live in West Sussex.
We ordered from the menu ,1 fish & chips ,1 salad & 2 burritos which was £35 which I thought was ok ....4 empty plates later we were done .No complaints from anyone except not serving roasts outside .
Would we go back ......yes.

“No Better than first visit.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013

Sorry but I can not give a favourable review on our second visit,in fact the food was awful ,worse than our 1st visit but the service was reasonable this time although no one came to see if our meal was OK (which it was not)also its expensive for what you get.
