I stayed for 5D4N in mid July 12. Did 7dives within 2days and the rest,i went tour around the island of Weh.
The place is quiet and away from the noisy sound of people. The homestay has
2 rooms- twin(single bed)
1 room -triple (single bed)
1 room -6 pax (single bed)
2 rooms - twin (queen bed) this is slightly a little expensive than rest.
all rooms has attach toilets. The toilets are clean but there are no hot shower.
No aircond. Only fan. Better bring your own mosquitoes repellent.
No towels provided.
No food provided but there is a restaurant just next door the homestay but you have to make the order early like 1 hour before you eat. They can cook pretty slow. Or you can ask the steffan's staff to buy you the food from the nearest village(4km from steffan).
Steffan has a fridge to store foods and kitchen but the utensils are pretty limited.
Diving is heaven there and only less than 10min by speedboat. Steffan's have all the renting gears for scuba except dive torches, dive computers & underwater camera. The staff are very helpful and kind. They might be quiet at first but they will eventually be friendly after they get use to you.
The guesthouse is simply basic but most suitable for divers who dont mind having a very simple life for awhile.
For Weh Island tour, you can ask steffan's to arrange it for you. A 1day trip around the island will cost you around IDR500k perday. Interesting places are anol itam, mini volcano, sumur tiga, waterfall, km0.
Do take note that on Friday at Weh and banda aceh consider as Halfday work. This is to respect for the friday prayer since they are a muslim country. Most of the shops close for business roughly around 10am~4pm.
