“A warm, welcoming place where you feel at home immediately”
Reviewed April 29, 2011

Almost a year ago now since we spent a few nights at John and Shelagh's place. Forgot (or didn't find the time) to write a review, which is a shame, because they deserve a good one. Now that it's springtime again, our fond memories are stronger than ever and we really can't find any excuse nor postpone any longer.

What a great place it is! And how hospitable they are! We loved the talks, we loved the garden, we loved the cats, we loved the two rooms we slept in and we still dream of the superb breakfasts and especially of John's heavenly poached eggs, which are inimitable (believe me, we tried several times. What's the secret, John?). If we come back to the South of England, Fairacres is absolutely on the top of our list of places to go back to. So, John and Shelagh, hope to see you soon.

All best, from Finn (and 'Ice'), Jacqueline and Nico

We came to stay for a nearby birthday party. Shelagh and John were splendid hosts who really made us feel at home. The breakfast was excellent and the room very comfortable.

My wife and I stayed here for the weekend while exploring Rye, Brede and Broad Oak. This is the best Bed and Breakfast we have ever stayed in. John and Shelagh are exceptional hosts and the room was absolutely superb. Breakfast was brilliant. We will definitely be back.

5 star luxury John and Sheelah could not do enough for us, the room was so comfortable and warm and relaxing, the breakfast is to die for, the ambience of the whole place was so nice. The lounge for the guests had a log fire most welcome when december weather is so inclement.
We will be back in May 2011 for another relaxing stay and kind hospitality from the perfect hosts.

What a lovely place! Approx 5 miles from Rye, this B&B is a real gem. John and Shelagh are a lovely couple who made us feel very welcome. They have a relaxed manner which made us feel at home and couldn't do enough for us. The B&B is a beautiful old house with loads of character. The room was fantastic, very spacious and very quiet, with everything you needed for a very comfortable stay. We absolutely loved it and will definitely be going back.

From the moment we arrived the hospitality was superb, greeted by John at the car and bags carried to our room. Given a guided tour of the B & B and taken to our Magnolia room which was exceptional, with luxurious fittings and comfort in the room. Chocolates, Port, Sherry, tea, coffee etc which we thought was a very lovely touch. A personalised menu for breakfast with our names and so much to choose from but whatever we had was served with a personal touch by Shelagh and the food cooked by John was scrumptious and presentation was perfect. Couldn't have chosen a better place to stay then Fiveacres. John & Shelagh were the perfect hosts and full of local knowledge. If you like your home comforts then this is the place for you.

From the warm welcome, and tea in the garden, to the personalised breakfast menu and port and chocolates in the room... just a perfect B&B. John and Shelagh are excellent hosts, and their house feels incredibly welcoming. I could have moved in permanently...

The house is full of beam and Inglenook fireplaces, with superbly furnished and decorated rooms, which are full of character. We have a sumptuous four poster bedroom with en-suite shower room. There is also a charming garden room with its own balcony and steps to the garden - this also has a superb en-suite shower room. And finally the delightful Magnolia Room with its vaulted ceiling, a large luxurious en-suite bathroom with separate shower. All rooms are well equipped with color TVs, videos, DVD/CD players, radios, hospitality trays, small decanter of port and sherry, hair dryers and trouser presses, safes and, of course, the bathrooms contain all of your toiletry needs. Breakfast is served at the family table in the Inglenooked dining room, which adjoins the resident's sitting room, with direct access to the "Italian patio" with its delightful features adjoining the main gardens and orchard. Our delicious breakfasts are made with local produce wherever possible and feature freshly squeezed fruit juices and home baked bread. We are more than happy to arrange themed visits, for example arranging itineraries for visiting places of your interest, such as gardens, castles, fishing trips and especially walking tours. There is ample secure parking at the rear of the house. ... more   less
