Description: This traditional village pub dates back to the 15th century with our snug area dating back to 1107! Legend has it, that the original building was used as accommodation for the monks that built Iden church. We have two delightful letting rooms, separate to the pub. Rooms offer king sized beds and en-suite facilities. Other features include original oak beams within the letting rooms and the main inn. Make yourselves tea and coffee in vintage china in the morning in bed whilst watching television with freeview prior to popping over the the restaurant for a sumptuous hearty breakfast using fresh local produce - continental and full English are offered. We are proud of our home cooked food and offer far more than your usual pub grub. Our food is locally sourced where possible and reflects seasonal changes. We are a perfect dining space for a romantic dinner for two, a family celebration or a private party.

We went on Mother's day for lunch with my in laws and 2 young children (6 and 4). The food was delicious and good size. They did smaller roast dinners for the children. Relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely visit again.

Thank you for coming to see us on Mothers Day and taking the time to review us. We look after our smaller diners at any time (not just on Mothers Day) and have a kids menu and can often do smaller portions of our main menu plus on Sundays we offer a small roast dinner for smaller appetites. We look forward to seeing you at The Bell again soon.

Made a point of eating here after reading the reviews. So glad we did. The Bell is a traditional pub - regular drinkers, friendly hosts, bags of atmosphere. A small menu often suggests fresh and that's what we got. Starters - soup, scallops, mushrooms delightful. Mains - Pork belly, sage mash, oriental duck, sauté potatoes, divine. Vegetables cooked al dente. Desserts - cheese boards and spiced toffee apple crumble, custard, superb. Amiable and efficient staff. Best pub grub we have had for many a year - thank you.

Staying in an oast house locally we were lucky to find such a warm and welcoming pub within walking distance. Didn't eat here in the end but enjoyed the atmosphere on a couple of evenings for a drink

Stopped for a sunday lunch last week, lovely to sit out in the garden, the sunday lunch was ok nothing fantastic the waitress didnt reappear to offer any sauces (mint for my lamb and mustard or husbands beef) both were a bit gristly and I though quite expensive. Struggling to give a average score !

We can only offer our apologies for your 'mediocre' review of us. Sunday lunch at The Bell is very popular and only wish you had told us at the time of your disappointing lunch...
At £12, we offer a choice of pork, beef or lamb all with homemade Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes and vegetables. This price is competitive for the area and for the quality of our dishes. Our food is all locally sourced and we are proud to support local farmers and growers. What a shame you thought the meat was gristly and your meal was poor value for money...We are surprised, but your comments regarding the service have been taken on and our staff have been refreshed to ensure they always offer sauces to all diners.
We do hope you come back to see us again and your experience with us will be far more than 'mediocre'
