“Plesant Relaxing Stay”

Just come back from a " Groupon £79 Overnight Deal " we went with an open mind having read the reviews and for the £79 Deal price feel we got good value for money, on arrival the receptionist was polite and directed us to our room, enroute to the Garden Rooms i could smell the musty smell from a previous review and would say it is isolated to the pool/gym area bit of a sweaty " Locker Room Smell " once past it the air cleared and up to the room we stayed in room 65 the room was clean and well appointed the solid wood furniture was starting to show wear but no worse than more expensive hotels i have stayed in, plenty of coffee/tea and six mini milk pots (not the usual stingy 2 as is the norm these days!!) plenty of freeview channels on the TV and a very comfy bed!!!! only downside was the bathroom i just wish the cleaning staff would bleach the tile grout to remove black mould again we see this more and more these days in older hotels we all do it at home so why does house keeping not pick up on this? also the bath side panel was broken and a hot tap that hits on the tiles with every quater of a revolution (bad installation). Looking through the room service menu average sandwich price is £7.00 as time was getting on we opted to get some bar snacks and save ourselves for dinner, at the bar vodka/coke, large glass pinot grigio, bag of peanuts & bag of chrisps £12.65 little on the pricey side so rather than rack up a bar bill opted to eat out that night ( if only the management could see people would order more drink if they didnt feel they were having their pants pulled down!!!! ) Decided to eat at Simply Italian in Rye service was a little on the slow side but the food is excellent and worth the wait! Had a good nights sleep on a very comfy bed, breakfast served up untill 10am, dining area is spacious with nice views over the grounds, very varied continental selection and several juice's available but had to go for the full english very polite waitress and lovely food only gutting thing was when the man on the next table asked for extra sausages and i hadn't and they were lovely!!!! room check out is Midday so you can get a lay in, still have your breakfast by 10.00 and your not getting rushed out of your room!!! Overall we felt we got good value for money with our Groupon Deal, would i feel the same way at the rack rate of £175, no i would not is the answer ! the Hotel has many good points but is in need of some TLC in places we would definately stay again when the offers are available..

Thank you Flackley Ash for our fantastic weekend. Chloe the receptionist was more than happy to change our group booking, many times! Everyone had their own rooms which we're a good standard. It is not ultra modern but very cosy, comfy and clean. It was fab to have the spa facilities and the food at dinner was lush.
We all had a great time and the surrounding area is beautiful. I will definitely be going back.

We were married at flackley ash hotel and had our reception there on the 12th January 2013, from the beginning of planning our wedding until the wedding weekend had finished everything was perfect. The staff and manager were extremely helpful and catered for our every need even remembering to provide food during the evening Buffett for someone without putting butter in the fish finger sandwiches !
The wedding breakfast was fantastic and we could not fault the food, all staff at the hotel made us feel very special on our day and we would like to say a big thank you to them especially as some one had mentioned Penny ( the manager) in another review review she is fantastic and she made our day the best ever the hotel is very lucky to have her thank you so much Flackey ash hotel and all the staff who were there on our wedding day

Room Tip: Definitely ask to stay in the sixties

We recently stayed at the hotel as part of a wedding party and I have to say that we couldn't have asked for more. Yes, I agree that the interior is a little bit tired but everything was clean and it added to the charm. During the day of the wedding, any small request made for anything was never too much trouble, the food was absolutely outstanding and the service staff couldn't do enough for us. Special mention has to made about Penny, the wedding co-ordinator, who was amazing and was there from the morning of the wedding right through the day and even there to oversee the breakfast in the morning! We have been to Flackley ash many times for food and have always found the food and service exceptional.

My friend and I booked our stay here through Groupon to celebrate my birthday, intending to relax after the Xmas rush and have some treatments in the spa. When we arrived we were impressed with the beautiful exterior and were looking forward to eating in the restaurant. However, when we walked inside we were surprised and disappointed by the scruffy dull interior that had definitely seen better days. There was an awful 'school dinner' smell and a very bored looking receptionist. We told her who we were and she handed us our room key. She didn't offer to show us to our room or help with bags. One long dingy corridor later we found our room which was miserably furnished, very hot and in dire need of a make over. The bathroom was like a 2 star B&B. We then decided to look at the 'spa' which consisted of a small pool, one hot tub and a plastic table and chairs. I think there was a sauna too. Not the sort of place I would want to spend much time in. Feeling increasingly depressed we realised that our room door would not lock. We called the receptionist who's mood had not improved since our last encounter, and she begrudgingly came to our aid. Realising we were in fact telling the truth she helpfully suggested we just leave it unlocked as the maintenance man was 'still around' (it was 3pm) and she'd try and get him to look at it. We said we weren't happy to leave our belongings in an unlocked room so she sighed and said she'd move us next door. This room was as bad as the first but by then we were starving so asked if we could get something to eat. She said 'well I could do you a sandwich but I'm on my own'. How professional. We asked if she could direct us elsewhere, she told us to try a nearby pub. We drove away feeling very disillusioned and fed up at the thought of spending all weekend there. In the end we booked into another Hotel & Spa in Hastings which was much more to our taste. The hardest part was going back to collect our belongings as by then the head receptionist was on duty, who was friendly and professional. She was very apologetic and concerned for us and we felt that had she been on duty earlier we might have stayed. We lost our money and thanks to the rude receptionist they lost our custom in terms of a restaurant booking and 5 treatment bookings, it does not surprise me in the least that a much needed cash injection is not forthcoming. I can't comment on the quality of the food but if it's as good as the customer service and the smell wafting round reception then it is poor. I suggest the management stop relying on the lovely exterior and sort out the interior, and invest in some staff training. I'm sure once those issues have been resolved it will be a lovely place to stay.

I organised a 2 night stay for 5 couples on 8th & 9th December 2012. Saturday night was a Christmas party night with a live band!! Food, service and entertainment excellent & we understand why regulars go back year after year.

The hotel facilities were generally very good. The rooms were large, warm & comfortable. The swimming pool and spa facilities were good. ( my wife certainly enjoyed he spa treatment).

We booked into the restuarant on Sunday evening and we were fortunate to be able to use my Tastecard, which provided a 50% price reduction on all food. ( result!!!) The food was excellent and the service great!! I cannot understand why there were not more people dning Sunday Night!!

I agree with a few comments from others that there are areas that could do with a " freshen up" but do not let this put you off.

This hotel is cosy, comfortable with excellent staff and wonderful food!
