We have now been fortunate enough to stay here 3 times - each for special occasions with various family members. The hotel and location are stunning - nothing short of picture perfect. The grounds and hotel are maintained beautifully and everything always looks immaculate. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, and can never do enough for you. The bedrooms are really well appointed and both the bedroom and bathroom are very spacious. The breakfast is really good - they have a decent selection of continental options and the cooked selection is also good. Each time we have stayed, we have dined in the restaurant for both nights; always opting for the tasting menu - which they are happy to change for night 2. The food is always superb and reasonably priced for the quality. We took my parents here for their 40th wedding anniversary and they still rave about it to everyone they know. We always look forward to coming back. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of going.

A quick mid-week stay in January. The hotel’s setting is very attractive: in a quintessentially English village with majestic views over Rutland Water. Faultless service all round. Interesting grounds. The room was comfortable though fairly small and the bathroom was fine though a little tired. Very good breakfast. Whilst we thoroughly enjoyed it, £295 for B&B felt a bit high, particularly in the deepest part of the low season.

We always go to a country house hotel for a few days around new year. We have tried 20 over the years but this year we found the perfect place - Hambleton Hall. The public rooms are fine not fantastic but they were never so full you could not get a table and sit and have tea or coffee. The dining room has a Michelin star and rightly so - we had dinner at such places before but never breakfast, the choice was great. And the standard of food at every meal was outstandoing The bedroom was fine and the grounds looked great though we didn't explore cos of the cold. But the staff!!!!! This is how you do service. Friendly without being over familiar. Helpful. Engaged.
We are already booking to come back in summer.
This place is expensive but we have never felt that we had such great value for money.

Perfect setting on a peninsular on Rutland water. The hall is stunning with comfortable sitting rooms and a bar perfect for reading and relaxing.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. Lovely to have the car parked and luggage dealt with while we lunched.
Our room overlooking the cedar of Lebanon and fabulously lit at night was exquisite.
Walks, cycling and birdwatching around Rutland water was a delightful surprise.
We were pleased with the response at booking for our request for vegan and vegetarian options. After being told personalised menus would be available we were looking forward to the evening menu’s from the Michelin Star chef for our anniversary meal. The meal and service was good. We were a little disappointed that we were given no choice of dishes and I was surprised to be asked at breakfast “what do you normally eat” indicating that there had been a lack of planning for our dietary requirements.
We would love to return to this lovely venue and look forward to greater choices of plant based dishes.

Came here with my husband for a special weekend celebrating one year of having a new donated kidney.
Lauren, one of the receptionists, was particularly kind as we had had to cancel it due to me having to be in hospital a few days before but we finally made it.
We stayed for an extra mile break which was what we needed. Stayed in a lakeside standard room - very comfortable and a lovely view.
Excellent food (see restaurant review) and lovely breakfast. Wondered if next time we could have Hambleton bakery croissants.
Thank you so much Hambleton for those special extras.

Room tip: standard room with lake view fine
