The beauty of Hide Out is not just the sheer rustic experience that awaits but also the warmth. From the moment i got on the phone with Hemant to the time we walked out of Hideout, we felt part of one big family. In fact it felt like we knew each other for ages. We spent only a day at this beautiful hideout but will certainly be back for more.

As a naturistic school, we wanted ourselves and for our school parents a true experience of a natural environment(including food ) for our childrens' upbringing. And this was truly it.
the food served was non-wheat,non milk, and full of fresh veges so quite nutritious. There was always a good book or two to read on some sleepy swings! The children had toys from nature to play withand all their senses were nourished.

Room Tip: Select the bed under the sky!!

It was our Diwali choice to escape the noise and good we found this place. Took the state roadways bus from Borivili Station close to our home and our RUSTIC experience started right away. In about 2 hours we were at this lovely HIDEOUT place. Hemant and Sangeeta have put in lot of effort, time and money to make this place happen and their hard work show. The farm is lovely with lots of trees and productive plants/crops which are used for the daily meal that they make. The locals are hired as helping staff who are expertly trained for cooking and guest care. Food is vegetarian and simple but very tasty and we enjoyed the local delicacies prepared during our stay. Rooms have high beds with comfortable mattress and a working modern bathroom. They don't have any windows as written already but only curtains. So besides the peak summer I assume that rest of the year it does get cold at night. You will get a list of dos and donts from Hemant before you go so pay attention to the same. Go there with with an open mind to do nothing but relax and you will come back refreshed and rejuvenated.

Room Tip: They have only one room where you can have door n window to close called the DEN. Opt for the same i...

We reached early morning there at 8 15. The first thing we saw were clean and Eco friendly surroundings, giving us feel of the village. Here the walls and flooring is done with mud. We were upgraded to Mud Cottage which has 2 separate rooms. The rooms had a high ceiling and were cool and airy, although the windows had only curtain (no grills or window panes). The stay was comfortable and the food prepared in health way(minimum oil). They don't use milk and sugar so we made do with organic tea :) . The night was cold and since there are no windows that we can close we city folk were spooked easily by noise of wind over dry leaves at night. Overall it was a nice relaxing experience away from the city.

Room Tip: if you are travelling couples then Mud Cottage is better as it has 2 separate rooms

I stayed for two nights at Hide Out, camping in a tent under a tree, under real stars, listening to frogs, bats, and the general wildlife around me.

If you are wanting a change from the city, this is the place to come. It is not flash or western, but is a fantastic experience of living alongside a family and village life. Something that as a tourist is hard to experience and you usually just end up 'touring'.

Hermant and his family are unbelievably hospitable. Part farmers, part herbalist, part spiritualist, part community change leaders....you are welcomed with open arms.

Highlights included a walk around of the farm (more orchard/forest comparatively to New Zealand farms). Hermant knows every tree on his farm and what every part of each plant can be used for (food, medicine, building, growing other trees etc). It was news to me that a pineapple for example starts life as bright red! And going for a swim at the local dam...Hermant calls is the outdoor jacuzzi... and then popping into the village afterwards for some local market food.

The food is organic sustainable vege vegan wheat and sugar-free heaven for those that way inclined. I can confirm it taste's amazing and I tried new foods I never would have otherwise.

2 or 3 days in a tent was probably my limit but there are eco-rooms also, and week long retreats were being held while I was there. Take a book, a torch, a warm jumper and repellent... anything else is just part of the adventure.

I organised a spiritual retreat at Hideout for this new year's and was very happy with the rustic vibe of the place. With the care and thoughtfulness put into little things such as the ambience, the plentiful place to hang around makes this an ideal getaway very close to Mumbai. Hemant and Sangeeta's hospitality is straight from the heart which makes you feel at home with them. The no-wheat, non-dairy food is delicious so much that one tends to overeat and makes you feel well taken care of. We stayed in a mud house which was open on 2 sides and it got really cold at night. I would advise people to carry enough warm clothes and also a foldable clothes drying rack for themselves and the family.

We spent two nights as a couple this December at Hide Out.

The positives included a beautiful property, great food, stunning kitchen area, playful pets and a good quality tent. Top most amongst the drawbacks was a not so clean and poorly maintained common bathroom ( 2 in number ) that we had to use as we had opted for a camping ( stay in a tent ) experience. Also, the place seemed a bit understaffed to manage the holiday season work load.

We had to ourselves arrange the mattresses provided to us within the tent and I also saw some guests carrying buckets of hot water to their rooms. Nevertheless, Sangeeta and Hemant are great hosts and quite communicative with all the guests. They were quite encouraging that we could put up the tent anywhere on their property.

Overall, The place will be especially appealing to those who are looking for a quiet vacation where they can be one with nature. If I could, I would give Hide Out a 3.5/5.
