We stayed one night as a treat and an experience we may not get again and we thoroughly enjoyed our adventure! The staff were amazing and the castle's history and décor were truly a step back in time. Make sure you ask them to take you through the "torture chamber"!! The methods used in those times were truly "brutal" as far as the things they did to people and you're reminded of that during your walk through of the chamber. All in all we enjoyed our adventure, had a wonderful dinner in their dining room and slept very comfortably in the very time traditional and ornately decorated massive room. :)

We stayed here for two nights in august 2013, and I sure wish we had stayed a few more!

The Castle itself isn't exactly located in the center of things, but as long as you have a car it's no longer than a 30-40 minute drive to Verona.

However, when we first arrived, we were greeted by a staff so friendly and courteous that I couldn't possibly refrain from leaving a report here on TripAdvisor.

The castle is restored in a beautiful manner which combines the old style and classical feel with modern bathroom facilities (which usually is lacking in similar hotels). Large rooms (we had the pleasure of staying in the room which was called "General Massa" will give you a totally different hotel experience compared to regular hotels.

We had dinner here both nights, and the first night was simply magical with only candlelights in the castle's courtyard. The hostess was fantastic, and the food and not to forget the wine was superb.

Being an old building, it's not exactly handicap friendly, but this would be the only thing "lacking", and staying true to its original design is what makes the experience in my opinion.

Also if I were to make one suggestion, I'd get a swimming pool somewhere on the hotel premises as this would really make it a five star experience!

All in all, an amazing experience that I would recommend to everyone that want a hotel stay that gives you that extra touch! Considering the price of the stay, I would say this is a bargain stay for anyone with a car and looking to explore the Northern parts of Italy.

We'll be back for sure!

The castle is beautiful, the restaurant is excellent and you are able to visit at least 4 very nice places in the area using the hotel as starting point. The picturesque city of Montanara is next door, Padova, Mantova and Verona are reachable by train in around one hour or even less by car. Our advice: In Padova don't miss the Capella degli Scrovegni painted by Giotto, and the Palazzo della Ragione; in Mantova visit the Palazzo Ducale and the Palazzo Te, and then of course go to Verona (one day each). You can also do it traveling very comfortably BY TRAIN, which we did. The train station is at 5 min. walk from the hotel. The trains are clean, not crowded at all and have AC. Buy the train tickets on board or in advance. The reception gives you all the information you need, also in English. Go home in the evening and have dinner in the restaurant of the hotel. The staff is very professional and friendly and they serve an excellent menu with a very good local wine. There is nothing to see in Bevilacqua itself but we were tired anyway. After all, we enjoyed to spend some time in the hotel which is really special. The only thing we missed, was a swimming pool ...

Room Tip: We stayed in the beautiful room called Cardinale Bonifazio

My wife and I stayed in this Castle while on a Nada's Italy tour. Our room was large and very comfortable.from the moment we arrived, the staff were friendly and welcoming. Although the Castello is a bit out of the way it did not matter in our case. Our group (of 10) enjoyed a fine dining experience with regional specialities, and the breakfasts were very good. We were taken on a tour of this historic Castello, including its hanging garden.

The castle was amazing, the staff could not have been more friendly. We felt the castle missed the mark on every level. No cold beer on the 1st night and no beer at all on the 2nd night but the red wine was exceptional, G&Ts were good too. Dinner took an 1 1/2 hrs from ordering to being served. It arrived cold the 2nd evening.
Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. The waiting and reception staff were very courteous and helpful (though not all speak English).
The castle seems to be geared up for weddings and parties (3 weddings on Saturday) but perhaps not for overnight guests. It was a wonderful experience, one we enjoyed very much but Alex Polizzi could suggest a few changes and this would be a 5* holiday destination.
