We had a nice dinner at this small restaurant. Make sure to have reservations on the weekend. The uovo di Michela, an egg, spinach and parmagiana dish was different and nice change from typical antipasti. The coniglio was good if a little dry, but we loved the faggiano alla castagne! It was not on the indoor menu but we’d seen it listed on the outside menu, so if you don’t see it, ask if they have it. The tiramisu was done a bit differently than usual with a wonderful hazelnut sauce. The place was busy because they had a large group in one room, but the service was good in spite of that. At the end of the night, Filllipo invited us for a coffee the next day so we could see the outdoor garden. We took him up on the offer and stopped by. It was a beautiful outdoor area that would be fun to eat at in another season. We’ll definitely go back next time we’re in the Piemonte area.

On a recent visit to Fillipos, we were lucky enough to have fantastic weather and so enjoyed a truly great dinner in the garden area of his restaurant. A great welcome was followed by terrific service from a young Japanese girl who's name I think was Minori. The food was excellent as were the two wines we had - a bootle of the house Arneis and a sensational Nebbiolo from Giuseppe Rinaldi - quite remarkable. The main course was rabbit which had been cooked over an open fire. A great night and an experience we can't wait to repeat.

Filippo is a tiny restaurant in the tiny village of Albaretto della Torre - but the quality here is outstanding. There's a short, seasonal menu that changes every few weeks (a rarity in this part of Italy) with local specialties, but the unique thing about this restaurant is the spit-roasted rabbit over an open fire. Bunny candy! Fillipo and his wife Silvia take great care of the three small rooms, (total seating seems to be about 30 max) and there is an outdoor patio with great views over the Langhe for use during the summer. I've visited this restaurant 5 times in the last two months and the meals have never been less than exceptional and well-executed. The wine list is not extensive but has a well-chosen selection of local wines. I will return!
