Description: The Source Restaurant takes its name from the John Olsen painting that hangs in the ceiling of the foyer. Its focus is on local seasonal produce, presented according to the whim of Vince Trim (ha), our Executive Chef, and his team. Shared plates, fresh, uncomplicated food, and a lovely outlook over the museum grounds. À la carte breakfast and lunch, Wednesday - Monday. À la carte dinner, Fridays and Saturdays from 6pm.

“This is high end, high cost, highly worth it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2013

MONA shares its location with a top mark winery (Moorilla) that produces wonderful wines. If you are cashed up and seeking a high-end degustation experience in the evening – go to The Source – MONA’s French inspired restaurant. Its kitchen houses Michelin level chefs so bring your wallet – and your taste buds because the food is remarkable. The service and setting is stylish without snobbery or pretention. The sommelier and waiting staff are so relaxed and warm, but 100% on the job and they know every aspect of the dining experience that they have worked very hard to create for you.

“Gourmet Food & Wine - worth every penny”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2013

They have 48 pages to their wine list (with one bottle at A$6,935). However their own house wine is great and very reasonably priced.

Food is spectacular. Views great. Service excellent.

We attended the wine & beer tasting beforehand and that was fun too.

Sunday Degustation perfection!!!! Thanks to Michael and his superb team for a truly memorable and faultless afternoon of heavenly service and magnificent food, masterly chosen matching wines and views to die for. We chose 7 courses which was entirely decadent and worth every penny!

“Fabulous”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 13, 2013

There was nothing not to like.
From the entrance downstairs to walking in to the glass surrounded dining room, with a table of riedel decanters, to the cognac table, to the luxurious table settings, morilla Pinot, and excellent food made this a lunch to remember .
You should include it as part of your MONA experience.
Service impeccable, too

“overpriced average food and a millionaires wine list”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2013

After all the good reviews and a visit to the restaurant in the "pre-mona" days we were looking forward to lunch here; they now have become so pretentious its crazy.
The food is very average, poorly presented and over priced and the wine is a pretention list as long a novella and at millionaires prices. Most were drinking beer and a glass of sparkling the day we were there; as prices were beyond your average punter.
Don't bother eating here; save your $ for better value elsewhere in Hobart.
