A fantastic beach resort in a...less than perfect...area of the country. The whole resort is noticeably westernised but this can be refreshing if you've been travelling around rural Ghana! The rooms (almost beach huts but indoors enough not to be drafty) are comfy and pleasant and come complete with mozzie nets. Lovely wetroom although be advised as is common in Ghana the water is not always running; sometimes you have to bucket flush and obviously the shower can be weak. This was barely a problem for us though.
The hotel restaurant was one of the best I came across in Ghana. My advice? Go for the local dishes - they're the cheapest and arguably the best. Great choice of breakfast and lunch dishes as well.
Sadly we missed out on the weekend nightlife, although this did mean we were one of the few guests and so had a very relaxing stay. The beach - which they warn you can be dodgy - is beautiful and it being so quiet we didn't encounter any problems at all. There are a few lovely craft stalls both on the beach and on the resort for browsing if you get bored of sunbathing. Having said that, it is very much a beach resort and I wouldn't recommend a long stay if you're easily bored.
One other tiny complaint is that the cocktail bar was closed the two days we were there, although I gather this was a one-off occurence and we were just unlucky.

wonderful little beach village. Perfect for a weekend trip. Spend your day by the beach, having a pina colada, or reading in the hammock. The candlelit resturant overlooks the ocean and the menu is a mix of fresh seafood to italian food. The night is entertainment is a mix of rasta and reggee.. close enough to Accra to go for a day trip.

Great breakfast options and Kitchen menu serrved in terrace by the beach and sea view, Big Milly´s as always make us feel at home. 5th time in Ghana always we choose it as a cool place for our stays. easy going, friendliest staff which will greet you by your name avery day and good affordable accomodation for different kind of budgets. includes camping options for pèople by foot and travelling vehicles.
Big Milly´s offers 2 night scenes. To us music lovers offers Friday Cultural Drum and Dance , on e of Ghanas reference for cultural experience in this artistic disciplines. And saturday night live Bans playing for a great party dancing under coconut trees and open sky, different Bands playing from reggae to highlife, hipline and other modern music. very good place to mingle with locals.

After traveling in Ghana fo 2 weeks we were looking forward to a nice end of our trip with a 2 night stay at Big Milly's. The room (and we had one of the most expensive ones) was TINY, the mosquito net had so many holes I stopped counting, the mattress was really really BAD, no sheets provided, fan not working for half the time and the bathroom was dirty when we checked in and although we asked for it - no one ever came to clean it!
Staff was not friendly at all and it seemed as if they would prefer not be bothered by guests staying there. The morning after we checked in we had someone knocking at our door at 6.20!!! and telling us we did not check in properly and we need to go to reception! 1. We did check in properly - it turned out to be bad communication amongst the staff 2. Waking up people at 6.20? Come on! 3. If you have to wake up someone at this time - at least be nice and not utterly rude as this guy was - seriously uncool!!!
The breakfast was a pleasant surprise - good choice, good price and really yummy cinnamon toast! Lunch and dinner was pretty average and with this funny system of pre-ordering dinner until 4pm I believe that many dishes are prepared in advance and then just stand until people arrive for dinner - this results in dishes being dry/cold.
The terrace overlooking the beach is truly lovely to just hang out, read a book, have a drink! However, with everyone there warning us constantly about locking all our stuff up, not carrying anything on us etc it just didn't feel like a really nice atmosphere to relax!

Big Millie's backyard is a must see for the people travelling in Ghana. It is well known by the community of expats to be the place to listen to live reggae music and to drink more alcohol than recommended. On Saturday nights, you will have a great opportunity to discover a mix crowd of rastafaris artists and international teenagers or hippies. However, if the parties are good fun and pretty cheap (about 3$ for a big beer), the place is dirty and unsafe. The beach in front of the hotel is just the WORSE one in the neighborhood. If you plan to have a day at the beach, take your car and drive 30 minutes away, towards Surfer Hotel for instance, you will not regret it. As for the night, if you don't care about comfort, then you can try it. However, you have to book in advance, as the place is often packed with the same hippy crowd and the quality of the rooms greatly varies from one to another (they cost form 20$ to 60$). I had the misfortune to try a few : in overall the rooms are small, dirty (the mattresses haven't been changed for a while and they are just DISGUSTING+ no sheets provided - you should bring your own if you care), the ACs do not work, neither the fans, it smells urine/mould, there is barely running water in the so called "bathrooms". And this stands for the "good" rooms. For the small ones, it's basically a dodgy closet with access to public toilets (no shower) that don't have either water or toilet paper... Plus, you won't be able to close your eyes: loud music is played till 4am and the people continue partying and screaming till pretty much the morning. Around 8am you'll wake up because of the unbearable high temperature in the room and the layer of sticky humidity on your body.
On the bright side, the restaurant is great and pretty cheap (about 10$ for a platter of lobster), both for the day and for the morning: their breakfasts are pretty amazing (a lot of choice, pretty copious starting from 3$)
If you are looking for a relaxing getaway on the beach: go to Anomabo beach resort near Cape Cost (much higher standards comparatively and not much more expensive), but a bit further from Accra...

I have stayed in 5 different hotels in Ghana and liked Big Milly's the best. Very international (lot's of friendly locals) and the rooms are comfortable. Ours had AC.
Don't expect a quiet night on Fridays and Saturdays though. The music is blasting til early morning hours. Otherwise a true Ghanian experience. We loved it !
