Carbamate is a community do peoples who have settled in Australia from Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos..the thronging streets of Cabramatta offer anyone who ventures there a true taste of South East Asian life.. Delicious aromas from a myriad of small cafés beckon one. Small stalls selling home made delicacies are offered to the passersby .. Vietnamese music echos out of shops... Local Buddhist temples promise tranquil respite... If you wish to go on a rip to old Saigon then Cabramatta gives one a faded glimpse of what daily life would be!

...because the food choices are awesome. Steamed buns, dumplings, freshly cooked dishes of every description , lol sticky rice, bubble tea, durian shakes!! halo halo, fantastic fruit shops, sweets, butcheries and fish market. fabric ohh boy aaand a pretty glam evening wear shop including wedding attire. We had a couple of hours to kill between a wedding and reception but could have easily spent all afternoon just wandering ( and eating). The weather was quite warm and then a massive storm came over - so appropriate. The lovely owner of a cake shop we had been in invited us to stand inside with another couple of girls - thats hopsitality. Yes , we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly

Delicious Asian restaurants that offer yum cha, lunch and dinner with attractive prices and dishes that really fill you up. There are sugar cane drinks, tropical fruits and Asian smoothies, Asian food stores with desserts and snacks everywhere.

Shop for clothes, fabrics, shoes, Asian groceries, home appliances, toys and games, Chinese herb supplements, tiger balms etc. Everything you want to buy from Asia.

Suits couples, families with young children and teens, friends, business people or solo travellers.

There's a motel on the corner of Liverpool street and Hume Highway if you wish to stay for a night or more.

Get there by train from the central station or buses from nearby suburbs.

Great place to hang out if you wish to hear people speaking Vietnamese, Cambodian, Thai and laos.
Many shops sell products from Vietnam , Cambodia (groceries stores). I enjoyed eating glutinous sticky rice with banana ,bought from illegal seller[direct sales].
Wonderful place to have the first hand view of Asian Australian lifestyle near Sydney.

I had read a review of Cabramatta's Vietnamese restaurants in Feast magazine and decided to go while on holiday in Sydney. We had lunch at Bau Truong (42 John St) and this was the best Vietnamese food we have had outside of Vietnam. The flavours were good, with the typical sweet/sour/salty balance just right. After lunch we looked around the markets, found pomelo (can't find it in Newcastle), found a small asian goods supermarket where I stocked up on essentials, and generally enjoyed the friendly atmosphere.
