“Wonderful waterfall”

Cunca Wulang Waterfall

I visited on Independence Day so there were no other tourists, just my guides, and I and some of the local people. Had a great time swimming and jumping in. Getting to the village is tough as the road to the village has been severely eroded by recent rains / floods, the walk down to the waterfall is quite long (I would recommend stronger shoes than flip flops), but that was all part of the experience.

Wow....we were stunned by how great this trip was. The local villagers had a very clear system for 'guiding' down to the canyon/falls....which was totally necessary (the guiding that is!) The jumping into wonderful water was superb!

This is the second review as addition, while I still recall the experience.
The location is about 2 hours from Labuan Bajo untill the waterfall. Be brave to jump from a 20 m height and dive to the fresh water.
Not so many nice scene like this one. May be the Green Canyon in Batu Karas, west Java that has similar scene.

The nicest view is the cliff of gigantic stones on the both sides of river flow in Cunca Wulang. Not the waterfall itself. Anyone can jump down from the cliff to the river with up to 20 m height.
The best time to visit is in dry season (july to sept) to see the clear water. It' s a nice place to dive and swim and to cool your body after walking down the valley for 40 minutes from the last village (post guard). Wear the appropriate boot and prepare your swimsuit.
A guide will lead the way to the waterfall. Bring some snack and drink to keep you energised. The whole tour takes about 1 hour walking + swimming time. Just now, there is no changing room available. It takes one hour to reach to the last village where we park our vehicle from Labuan Bajo. 45 minutes on the good road and 15 minutes on bumpy path.
Don' t go there unless you are fit enough for walking down and up the valley. Years ago the villagers provide horses to take you to the waterfall. But I think it is based on request.
Be sure to leave the area before the sunset unless your vehicle has ample light during the trip back, because no light along the road back through the windy road to Labuan Bajo.
We can see the most beautifull view during sunset at the point where good road meets bad road. We can see mountain, paddy field, the sea and the islands.
It's worth the trip.

The walk to the falls was interesting. The waterfall itself is interesting. Possibly during monsoon it should look better.
