“Dragon sightings aplenty!”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

Staying on a live aboard lets you get there early enough to see the dragons when they are most active!

“This is why people come here ...”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

... to see the dragons. Loh Liang is on Komodo; Loh Buaya is on Rinca. Standard 2D/1N boat trips do the run. You get to Rinca too late in the morning to have a good chance to see dragons in the wild (though i did see one). You spend the night very close to Komodo and get there before the park opens and are told you are there too early to see the dragons (only saw a sick one in the wild). There were loads of dragons lurking around the visitor center, though. Also included on the boat trips are several snorkeling stops including one with a good chance to see manta rays (swam with a school of 8). Great trip. Boats generally cost 2.5M ($250) for sleeping on the deck split among however many people you want to squeeze in with. Meals are included. There are more comfortable options, also.
