“Good crew, poor management/ customer service attitude”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2012

I would like to express my thanks to the team for taking care of me on the 2 days of diving (24th and 26th December). The boat crew were capable and professional and provided excellent customer service (and great food). The rental equipment (BCD and regulator) were well maintained. The divemaster was experienced, and knowledgeable about the divesites and looked out for all the divers in the group. The only feedback would be to slowdown and allow time to find / spot some of the marine life. Having said that, the dives were well planned around tide conditions and currents.

However, I am extremely disappointed by the last minute unannounced cancellation of the dive on 25th Dec despite having booked ahead of time - and any lack of compensation and charging normal day trip price instead instead of the discounted 3x 1-day trip price. It is understandable that the dive guides may wish to have a day off - but it is unfair to inform customers at the last moment without any notice.

Secondly, it was also made clear in my booking that I intended to have 1 of the day trips to include a visit to the Komodo national park. This did not occur as well due to the poor organisation and customer service of the management.

In summary, whilst I was satisfied by the service from the crew, I found the management and attitude to be lacking in many qualities of a top dive shop.

Dear G P,
We are happy to hear that you had an overall positive experience while diving with us on our day boat and we appreciate your helping us better our business by drawing our attention to parts that are in need of improvement, such as our booking process and communication between management and guests about what to expect on Christmas day. We regret that our alternative arrangements were not satisfactory for you.

Although, all of your dives were indeed in the Komodo National Park, we regret that we were unable to offer you a combined diving and trekking trip to Rinca to see the Komodo dragons during one of your days with us. We thank you for taking the time to provide us with your valuable feedback, and we promise to make amends and look into the issues you
raised to make sure they do not recur.
All the best to you, and as always, happy diving!

“Awesome diving with awesome people”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2012

Why these guys are so good:
Every in town pretty much has the same prices when it comes to day trips so it really boils down to the peeps you go with. Diving with these guys was a blast! They were really fun as well as totally professional. Can't remember the last time I had briefings in SE Asia that has topography maps or dive profiles. Nick and Elitza have some serious drawing skills. The dive conditions around can be interesting but the DMs did a fantastic job of laying them out before we got in. The equipment is great, the boat has tons of room to lounge out, and the lunch is seriously amazing. There was always tons of food and water unlike other companies who cheap out on the grub. Everybody on staff was always having a good time, not just the DMs. This made the vibe feel more personal and fun than others where the boat's so quiet. My only regret is that their live aboard was full. Oh well, just means I'll have to go back and dive with them again.

Diving in the area: Currents can be strong in some places, but that's what brings in the good stuff. The water is coldish. If you're looking to see something specific, do your homework and know what sites you want to visit. Inquire about live aboards before you get there.

“Perfect”

The best way to dive Komodo. Kit was good quality, the price was on par with everywhere else in town, and our dive master was an incredible Indonesian guy (sadly I can't remember his name) and had excellent English. All the staff were very friendly. The boat ride was long, but has a nice top deck to sunbathe, read, or have a nap. The food they made on the boat was amazing, which is always a nice unexpected treat on a dive boat. Fried fish and veggies and lots of fruit and snacks throughout the day. We came to dive one day and ended up staying for three. The dive sites are beautiful and teeming with life, big and small. The town itself leaves something to be desired but it is definitely worth the trip just to come Dive Komodo!

“Thrilling Experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2012

I took two dives with this operator. They provided all of the equipment andmthey were in working condition but as usual I always bring my own mask and booties.

The boat was in good condition and the crew were always cheerful. I saw more than 10 mantas during the dive so was a happy camper. We went to Manta Point and Batu Bolong dive sites.

The current in both dive sites were quite strong with Batu Bolong being the strongest current with whirlpool potentially happening. We got caught in a whirlpool trying to board the boat after our dive but we were all fine afterwards. They were not kidding when they say the current can be quite strong.

All in all, I had a good experience.

“Trustworthy diving operator”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2012

As a family of three not-that-seasoned divers we had a very positive experience with Dive Komodo. Service was friendly and the equipment, although not straight from the shelve, was of good quality and well-prepared for the dives. The boat was OK with a nice sundeck, clean toilet and enough space for a fairly large group of divers. The dive itself was pretty much the same good standard we have experienced in other Indonesian/Timorese venues, however with two notable positive exceptions: we were able to observe a fairly large manta drifting in the current and the water was CLEAN, no plastic bags, flip-flops, condoms etc floating into your mask. Hopefully it will stay like this! Divemaster was good, providing a proper briefing before the dive. All in all, it was a recommendale experience.
