Discovery Parks - Gerroa
Reviewed May 7, 2013

We stayed there for one night on Saturday 4/5, because no other caravan parks. We like having a kitchen. The room was very spacious furnished with two single beds pushed together to make a queen size bed. The bed was comfy & I had a good night sleep.
The room also has a sofa & a dining table with 4 chairs, a wardrobe. The kitchen had a mini fridge, microwave, an electric stove, a kettle & a toaster. They provided tea, coffee, cookies, milk & sugar.
The bathroom was also spacious with a huge shower (not bath) they also provided toiletries which is nice.
Linen & towel were also provided.

The facilities in the park, I found quite basic. There was no access to the beach, just the river but there was nowhere to sit near the river.

I would recommend it if you're just staying overnight. Check in & out was very quick.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are quieter

We stayed here over the Australia Day Long Weekend.
I had booked 2 unpowered camp site, and a waterview cabin. Cabin was clean and reasonable, the aircon worked well. unfortunately it rained during our stay, so very limited activities were available.
Staff are very helpful when I called to book, Lots of things to do to keep children occupied, great location for fishing and beaching and fantastic atmosphere.
Would highly reccommend this holiday park and will definitely come back.

We had previously stayed in the area in B & B accommodation and loved the beautiful scenery and beaches. As we were travelling with friends who had a caravan this time, we decided to book 5 nights in a cabin, so we could be nearby. We were warmly greeted at reception and it was clear that park security is taken seriously. The cabin itself was spacious and comfortable but very dated. Though it had been cleaned before our arrival, it was quite musty and is ready for a substantial update in fittings and fixtures. There are ceiling fans in the main area and bedroom, but nothing but a window in the second bedroom. There is a large A/C unit in the main living area also. The windows and door are fully screened, which is great with the river so close. There is a large TV in the dining area and a small one on the main bedroom. The BBQ on the deck was great for cooking evening meals. We were staying in peak time and movie nights were run most evenings on the grassy area directly outside the cabin. The downside of staying at this time was that the park was packed to capacity the whole time, with a real strain on the amenities, pool area, jumping pillow and constantly overflowing rubbish bins. (Staff were aware of this and were trying to keep the problem in hand.) Much of the park is taken up by permanent van sites and there is a regular surf camp run on the beach side of the property. It takes about 10 minutes to walk out to the beach from the cabin and many families were making use of the river for swimming and fishing.

Overall, we felt that the high price we paid was not reflected in the accommodation we received. While we definitely enjoyed our third stay in the region, we will go back to local B & B accommodation in future.

Room Tip: This would be a good caravan park for those camping in tents. A large open camp kitchen close to the...

We booked a 5 night stay in our caravan at Discovery Gerroa as part of a 2 week family road trip throughout NSW. When we arrived we were quite surprised as the powered caravan site we had pre booked and paid for was actually just a powered tent site. We don't mind not having a slab but there was no drainage for our grey water and the spaces were very small. We were worried about the others in tents as we didn't want water to leak near them. Also there are a lot of permanent vans here and the amenities block is placed near the permanent sites which means it's quite a hike from the caravan/ tent sites. The pool is also very small for quite a large park. Not what I expected from a Big 4.

Stayed in 2 bed Spa Cabin for a local wedding for 1 night (from what I understand we were quite lucky to get a 1 night stay around this time of the year)
Staff very friendly at check-in, park has a laid back feel - lots of kids and happy noises coming from the pool area (which is close to the front gate)
Spa cabin was nice, a little stuffy without air con. Main bedroom has overhead fan - air con unit is in kitchen / lounge and doesn't have great reach into bedrooms. Especially 2nd bedroom which is very tight with 2 sets on bunks. (Not a major concern as you don't spend much time in this room unless you are sleeping)
Spacious, quiet, clean with sufficient TV's etc on those rainy days. Easy walk to pool for kids and jumping pillow. Did not use shop or cafe.
Would happily stay again if the price was right - during peak season it can be very expensive, but then again, they sell out, so who am I to complain :-)
Easy walk under bridge to creek and eventually to beach (didn't use)

We had expected to arrive after the reception desk would be closed, so we had contacted them and they had provided us with a combination to a security box to get our key. It turns out we got there a little earlier than expected, so we didn’t have an issue with getting the key. We were supposed to stay in a holiday unit, but the desk attendant decided to upgrade us to a spa cabin. This instantly became the best place we stayed in. It was a big park and it was dark, so it was a bit difficult to find at first. The driveway was narrow, but it was a full-sized cabin complete with a living area, dining and kitchen area, bathroom, master bedroom, and extra bedroom. And the bathroom came with a spa tub. Simply wonderful.
