“A Warm Greeting”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2013

On arrival, I was made to feel 'at home'. The guides share their knowledge with a passion. The house is lived in by the family. The rooms that are open to the public are all very interesting and lots to see. Maybe i was expecting more rooms than what were available, and i was a little disappointed with that. food in the courtyard cost wise, was on a par with other attractions, and it was very nice. The lady in the café was very obliging and pleasant.

“Micklemas Fair”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

We visited Burton Agnes Hall this last weekend because of the Micklemas Fair that was on. It was £6 entry for the fair only. It was a bright & breezy day to enjoy some very interesting stalls. You could purchase chutneys, jams, mustards, pumpkins, Christmas garlands, chilli in various guises, the list is endless. We also visited the coffee shop & had a toasted bacon & tomato sandwich, a coronation chicken baggette, both came with salad & crisps. This along with two very acceptable cups of coffee for £14.65 was very reasonable priced.

“A wonderful house and garden”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013

We visited on recommendation from a friend and were very pleased we did. The house is beautiful and the long room at the top of the house is very special (so much so that we had to go back to find them all - you will know what I mean when you visit). The woodland walk and gardens are also lovely. The lunch in the coffee shop was also very scrummy.

“A House for all Seasons”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2013

Burton Agnes Hall is a beautiful house with a lovely garden. It appears very light and airy, has a wonderful grand oak staircase, impressive plasterwork ceilings, "royal" bedrooms and an eclectic collection of furniture, paintings, ceramics and sculpture. There are lovely views from the large windows of the gardens and woodlands. Outside are the walled and formal gardens and woodland walks, and for children there are giant games of snakes and ladders, draughts, chess and a maze.
All the plants are labelled which is very helpful for gardeners, and even in October there were many butterflies and bees in the walled garden. There are also statues and fountains to add extra interest.
The cafe seems to be very popular, and serves excellent coffee and we enjoyed our soup and sandwiches very much.
We are hoping to return in early summer next year to see the results of the gardeners' hard work this autumn., and I would like to visit at Christmas to see the giant Christmas tree and the handmade decorations.
Unforunately, wheelchair access is for the ground floor of the house only.

“A lovely experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2013

A real treasure, Burton Agnes is small and beautiful. It is the family home of the Cunliffe-Lister's and they make visitors very welcoming and the house has a real "lived in" feel to it. I particularly liked visiting when the Christmas decorations were up and learned that all the family helped to design and make them. The guides add to the experience with their historical knowledge and friendly approach. There are some wonderful art works and and the building is beautiful. The walled garden adds plenty of interest and the woodland walk is fun with things for children to find. It is one of my favourite places.
