“Nice hotel, but pay your attention to the absence of beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2011

Staying in this hotel for 4 days. We've decieded to choose Red Level suite. Nice place with perfect service (in the Red Level at least) spectacular views, good SPA and various delicious cuisine. One negative surprise - full absence if any beach. All the pools are very good, but sometimes you want to lay on the beach, and dive to the ocean after. But anyhow - all the rest are very good and value for money. If beach and sea are not your vacation desire this hotel is very recommended to you. If you like relaxed, quite and luxury rest with no children around - choose Red Level.

We stayed a couple of years ago before Thomsons were there and were a bit worried that it wouldn't be the same this year but it was fantastic. We stayed for 11 nights and it was busier for the first week but didn't spoil our holiday. Our daughter is 12 and there were lots of different activities that Thomson organise so it was much better from that point of view. Value for money for a 5 star hotel is excellent. The staff were just as we remembered and some were still there from 2 years ago. Food was excellent. It was much better that the towels are not available until 9am as it stops people nabbing beds before people are even out of bed. This is one of our favourite hotels and would definitely book with Sensatori again.

Amazing place. Great food, atmosphere, entertainment, kids facilities, staff are all brilliant especially the four sensatori staff guest relations. We had the best holiday ever. If you don't want to go somewhere with kids then go to an adults only resort or stick to the adult ares of the hotel. If you think Dubais 6 star is better and you can afford it, then why are you going to tenerife??? I really don't understand anyones negative reviews about this place. I'm worried we will never find anywhere we love as much. We stayed with our 2 year old and all of our needs were catered for and exceeded. If anyone wants any info feel free to message me. Absolute luxury. If you're headed out there I am very jealous. TIPS- Don't bother with garden rooms, balconies are better, the nursery is brilliant, the best rooms are the 4000's, the even numbers as they face into the gardens and have a great view.

Ok i will give a balnaced review

Good things: Food especially the Italian, never seemd too corwded even thouhg it was peak time, always sunbeds as not allowed to reserve with towels, fantastic staff who could bot do enough, great rooms, wonderful pools especially the Infinity Pool which went on forever, much nicer that a rectangular box, lovely views, very clean, great light show at 10pm every night

Bad things: the sofa bed in each room is terrible. its not really fit for one child so forget 2 children. it really lets down the room as everything is great.
The night time entertainment- awful. Boring singers, rubbish acts. Needs Jazzing up a lot-maybe some audience participation

Smell- awaful smell sometimes of the sewers whilst sunbathing.

Extra costs: although we booked a fully inclusive holiday we had to pay for certain things on the menu and 3 out of the 7 restaurants you only got 20% off.

Ice creams- they need a ice cream bar for the kids to be opne all day where they can buy lollies and ice creams on a stick not just oine fridge on the bar area. Kids love ice creams during the day and so do I.

but on the whole fantastic resort and great holiday

Room Tip: ask for a sea view room

We went to the Sensatori Tenerife to treat my parents for their 70th birthdays and to unwind from work totally. We were certainly not disappointed with anything at the resort or indeed the whole holiday! It was amazing! The hotel is huge and yet never felt crowded at any time. The lobby and Plaza Alantica are stunning as you enter (the lights and water show nightly are fun, if somewhat short) and the walk sown to the Ocean Bar that overlooks the most impressive pool I've ever seen really sets the scene for the holiday. We were 'full board+' and in all honesty hardly ate or drank in-between meals. The restaurants (6 of them) were all great with different menus, but we found we mostly enjoyed the variety at the Pangea. The staff were all polite and cheerful and rarely let your glass become empty at the table. The 260m infinity pool has lots of jacuzzi and spa areas, it is cooler than I was expecting but quite welcome when the sun was out. The adults only pool was lots warmer and far less salty and a real chill out area! My wife and mother loved the spa where they were treated to a hot stone massage and use of the facilities for a couple of hours. Our rooms were a good size and well looked after. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff - I really can't recommend this hotel enough!

What can i say that will truly reflect the amazing week we had at the Gran Melia.

The first point is the welcoming smell that greets you on arrival, the efficient reception and the stunning lobby of this hotel. From here onwards the experience is maintained with the amazing standard of their rooms and the exceptional staff. We stayed at what we assumed would be their busiest and therefore upgraded to the red level service but having seen the rest of the hotel you would not of been to disappointed in the main hotel.

If you are looking for that little bit extra from your holiday then the red service is well worthwhile, from the staff ( especially Francisco) to the small extras they undertake daily that make you feel extra special.

The food in the restaurants was varied and each of a different level and experience.

I could go on about numerous enjoyable experience we had during our stay, but would like to point out I would recommend to anyone asking and look forward to repeating the experience in the not to distance future.

sprawl, luxury, ambiance

all utterly beautiful.

i stayed for 7 days in this amazing five star hotel with a friend. i heard of this hotel the year before when i was in Melia Caribe and I thought I just had to check it out.

First off, this resort is massive yet very refined. Vast use of marble everywhere, and all fixtures seemed on the large side. The architecture is commanding with pillars and arches everywhere. Art seems to flow from all places , projecting into the view of the Atlantic Ocean. This resort might have lacked a sandy beachfront, but it more than made up with the largest saltwater pool at least in Europe at 300 metres across!

Our room was divine as expected for the price, with a front ocean view. The bed was comfortable, the washroom on the high end, and the room's ambience was soothing. During the afternoon when the sun sets on the horizon, everything in the room seems to sparkle from their shine which was stunning. Every time they turn over our beds, which is twice a day, they always leave lindt chocolates on the side table.

The meals were tasty as expected for the price, and the service attentive. The servers were knowledgeable of their local wines and we were more than glad to have been introduced to them.

The grounds were well kept, and the front lobby always had a waft of flowery scent.

The expansive pool which was an infinity pool facing the Atlantic was clean, and the surrounding loungers were ample.

Their underground parking was easily accessible and had more than sufficient amount of spaces.

The surrounding town of Alcala was a charming sea side village, with a nice hang out atop built up a stone sea wall. They also have a plaza lined with nice restaurants that were tasty and rightly priced. On the weekend, the plaza became a sprawling farmer's market.

During our seven day stay, we spent the good part of the day exploring the island. In the end, we covered all the way to the west at the Teno light house passing by Los Gigantes and the hidden Masca valley; to the north in Icod de los Vinos and El Garachico; to top of El Teide twice; to the south in La Playa Chica; and to the west in Los Cristianos. Every evening, we spent a good part cooling off in the pool and heading out for dinner.

Overall, we were able to do what we humanly planned to explore in the island while being pampered in such a luxurious hotel. I don't know if I could come back since they the entire trip was pricey coming from North America, but it was all worth it.

Tenerife was a rugged but charming island; truly was the home of the eternal spring.

Room Tip: Driving a rental car is the cheapest and most efficient way to explore the island; but be prepared t...
