“Adukt Only Hotel at RedLevel at Gran Melia Palacio De Isora”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

A fabulous hotel that exceeded all expectations. As a solo traveller I am ultra-selective about hotels and I aim to seek hotels that support adult clientele where possible.

The actual adult only part RED LEVEL was in my view a perfect adult only arena and yet access to the larger resort complex at Gran Meliá enabled the traveller to have the best of all worlds.

Contemporary stylish but compact and totally user friendly.
All rooms are fab although lighting can be on the dark side so ask for an ocean front room that has more light

Acala (10 mins walk) is small and not lively but the hotel complex has everything you need

If you want lots of shops and a big nearby town then this will not be the right resort for you but the hotel is amazing.

Staff excellent and first class customer care

We stayed at Gran Melia August 2013. On arrival we were seated in the main reception and then Alex came to take us over to the red level, on the way he explained lots of things about the hotel and was very pleasant and informative. When we got to red level reception we were given a welcome drink (which was not on the bill) it was all very relaxed and the reception staff were very helpful explaining what they could help you with if needed, at no time did they try to push anything onto you like spa treatments etc. We had lunch on the terrace and that was lovely, we were served by Kamilla who was very polite and friendly a real credit to the Hotel always happy and smiling, as were all the staff. The red level area is beautiful around the pool and the area in front of the terrace where there are the jacuzzi spa baths and a bar, with hammocks and big comfy seats. The breakfast is excellent everything you could ask for, there is a buffet and also hot food from the menu. There is also tea, coffee and a fridge with still and sparkling water you can help yourself to all day. The happy hour was great, you just helped yourself to drinks and there were lots of nibble and tapas, it was nice and relaxing to sit and watch the sun go down. The prices are slighty more expensive at Red level but it is very peaceful there and you can alway go to the other bars in the hotel if you wanted. We ate at the Club Ocean one night, we had friends staying with sensatori and they had tried several times to get booked in with no luck, but the perks of staying with red level had us booked in straight away, Laura (hope the names right) on red level reception was really helpful getting us the booking and all the reception staff always went out of there way to help. The infinity pool is stunning, a little to salty, always plenty of room to swim and chill on the in pool seats. We really enjoyed the entertainment in the hotel, all the show we saw were very good, loved Abba and the Beatles. The piano bar was also very nice.
Alcala is a small town which is on the doorstep of the hotel. There are several little bars and restaurants. We went to Sauco a few times on the sea front excellent food and good service, also went to the Sunbean for a drink (and the football results) were they are very friendly.
We would go to this hotel again if visiting Tenerife.

We stayed 5 days in the Melia & we chose Red Level, not sure what to expect but we understood pampering & luxury. As we booked one day from the other (we were in another hotel in Tenerife), it was much cheaper than we saw months ago when we book the holiday. We also wanted to see another part of Tenerife. We were so chilled & pampered that we hardly took the car out....

The infinity pool was outstanding, tempered & salty water which is great for the skin.

The restaurants provided good variety of food at all prices. We tried them all, except for the Japanese which we found overpriced. We settled for the pool restaurant for lunch & the main buffet restaurant for dinner-choice + quality. The red level allowed us nice tables outdoors by the pond.

The red level pool was great, comfy loungers, drinks etc... We did hire a Bali bed for one day & it was an amazing experience. Comes at 60euros with sun cream, magazines, bottle wine, lunch etc... Well worth it !

We had happy hour every night with bubbly & tapas at the red level bar. Very nice and as it is free, busy. :-)

It was a trip to unwind from work in an exclusive relaxing environment. No screaming children or loud music. What we were looking for.

The complex is nice & well kept. Our room had lovely sea views & a jacuzzi in the balcony. Lovely Clarins toiletries, fluffy towels & bathrobes. It has a lot of varied activities during the day which we availed of.

The spa was great and we had it complimentary the first time. I had a manicure & pedicure & service was great.

Staff friendly and professional.

It was well worth it to pay a little bit extra and we were happy with the red level experience.

Room Tip: Higher floors for the sea view.

Unfortunately a big mistake in my choice. A lot of problem since the minute 1. The personal the best, the organizations the worst than i saw.

However the Canarian personal is a great worker and helpful.

If you want a big swiming pool. This is the site.

The Quality about the food is poor, and not reasonable for a 5* resort.

After an extensive European holiday, we felt the best thing to do would be to find a nice island somewhere, stay somewhere lush and do diddly squat. Our research pointed us to Tenerife, and more specifically, the RedLevel at Gran Melia, as a suitable place to do sweet nothing (we were won over by the fact the RedLevel section of the resort would be kid-free). We decided to go with the half board for our four night stay in the Deluxe Room with Large Terrace and Whirlpool. In short we had a superb stay. Being such a large resort there is much to comment on so I will break it down into key points.

Our room (2069) - Spacious and comfortable. We had direct pool access from our suite. It's worth the extra money you spend on the suite for this factor alone.

RedLevel - Fantastic service by all staff. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The pool area was very peaceful without the kiddies around. Complimentary drinks and bar snacks were served between 6-7pm.

Restaurants - The food in general was fresh and delicious. The RedLevel only has one restaurant (La Terrace) which serves an ample buffet breakfast. We had an amazing dinner there one night, however half board does not cover this fully for dinner (you do get a 50% discount). You do get a choice of four other restaurants that are fully covered in the main resort area. The best options are Oasis Pool Grille and Club Ocean. Unless you're particularly hankering for a buffet, the food at Pangea was above average for a buffet but ultimately not as impressive as the a-la-carte places. We ate at the Poolside Bar for lunch one day and found it a little pedestrian.

YHI Spa - We received a free hydrotherapy session with our booking which was a novel, enjoyable experience. We also booked a massage and a facial each that we were both satisfied with.

If it wasn't so far from Australia we would definitely make this place our getaway destination. Our whole stay was smooth, pleasant and delightful. Just like a resort stay should be.

We have recently returned from a weeks holiday at this hotel, We found the hotel to be of an excellent standard and the staff were very friendly and accommodating, the rooms are spacious and well fitted worth getting a sea view, the red level is worth it providing you are not travelling with children, the buffet breakfast is very good, the standard of food varies throughout the hotel there are a few different restaurants, the best of which is without doubt Le terrace at the red level in the evening, where the chef Michael produces some memorable meals.
Club ocean is also very good, The spa is fabulous with lots of different pools using heated sea water, i had a detox treatment and a facial which was really good.
This is the perfect place to chill and relax with a high level of comfort and easy access from the uk, we will be back very soon

Room Tip: go for sea view with balcony

I've broken this down into highlights and lowlights; the latter doesn't necessary mean bad. It may be just personal taste. The mishaps, things that didn't go go quiet right!
Highlights: the service, quality of the accommodation and food were first class. Especially the staff in RedLevel. The guys in particular were so responsive and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, we went B&B but eat at the Pool Grill most lunch times and in the 'all in' restaurant once and the Oasis Grill three times. Service was impeccable. Staying in the RedLevel mainly did feel like a small private hotel. It includes a private car park, free evening drinks & snacks, towels and tea/coffee/water anytime. The separate heated swimming pool and tranquil grass sun bathing areas were beautifully kept and serviced.
Lowlights: our room was part of the main hotel deluxe room with part sea view, we didn't opt to pay the large supplement for the super deluxe rooms or suites. However, they too were adjacent to the main hotel. This meant we did have bad 'baby noise' one night and main hotel guests with children were able to access the area. There is no getting away from the fact that this is in a large (although up market) FAMILY hotel. Prices for lunches, dinners and extras in RedLevel are more than in the main hotel, usually for the same product. The interior design of rooms are bit over the top and fussy, with over complex lighting. The Atlantic Plaza is very overwhelming in design and noisy.
Mishaps: although most of the staff were wonderfully friendly, there was the occasional premadonna, especially in the Oasis Grill. Second half of the week there was 'supply' problems with the snacks & mixers during 'happy hour', which up set a few guests. We also had three additional items added to our bill (total 95 euros). Ask for a preform a bill to check an hour or so before you check out.
Really because of the 'not quiet separated' accommodation issue I've scored it down. We did loose a couple of hours sleep one night and we really wanted a family free holiday.
It is a good hotel but RedLevel is an enclave of a massive holiday complex.

Room Tip: The very expensive rooms don't offer much more than the deluxe rooms. If fact the villas are ove...
