We ate here with friends and their 4 year old little girl. We chose The Tap as we'd purchased vouchers through Grab One ($20 for a $40 food voucher).
We'd booked our table and as soon as we arrived we were advised the lamb shanks were not available - 2 of us were really looking forward to lamb. 3 beers were also out of stock. Not the best start.
When we ordered our food, we were asked if we wanted the little one's food to be served first, we said yes. For both courses her food was served last! Wasn't sure why they asked to then do the opposite.
Three of us had a roast dinner which was OK, nothing special to be honest. Nice roasted kumara, but the roast potatoes were dry and inedible. One of our party opted for ribs which she said were dry and weren't served with a finger bowl.
Dessert was OK, the chocolate mud cake was very sweet. Drinks were pricey - $9 for a pint, $40 for a bottle of wine. The bill came in at $220, which was a lot more than any of us were expecting.
Our friends had eaten there before and hadn't been that impressed, but thought with the new ownership since then the food might have improved.
Overall the food and drinks were expensive for the quality of food and service we experienced.
