Beautiful, relaxing and serene location. My husband and I stayed at Woodman Estate just last weekend and since we've gotten home I've been dying to write a review. We had the most wonderful stay I could imagine. The Estate house itself is just beautiful, the decor amazing (See Photos!). When we arrived we where greeted by the hotel owner Rick the minute we walked in the door. He checked us in, in a matter of minutes, provided us with a bottle of wine & brought us to our Lakeside Chalet. The chalet was GORGEOUS (see photos), well appointed & extremely comfortable. Our evening meal in The Brasserie could not have been better, fantastic food & all our compliments to the chef and waiting staff for being professional & friendly. The grounds are lovely for a stroll aound and all the birdlife around the lake makes you feel a million miles from anywhere, so quiet & calm. Our weekend was definately one to remember & we will be going back again. I would recommend Woodman Estate to all of my friends & family. ***** 5 STARS

We had long anticipated a visit to Woodman Estate as we live locally and our family had purchased us a voucher to celebrate a significent wedding anniversary. We had mentioned our occasion during the booking and confirmation service which was acknowledged by the hotel staff. On our arrival we were offered an upgrade at a price which we declined as we had booked massages in the Spa Centre at extra considerable cost. Our experience in the Spa Centre was excellent pleasant efficient staff with relaxing surounds. What a pity we had to view and walk past a large rubbish pile on the way to the Spa Centre. We found the menu and food service very good quality especially the breakfast.Though 1/2 hr wait for coffee at breakfast reflected some poor table service. Also dissapointing to note was no acknowledgement of our anniversary not even a glass of bubbly with dinner.Such a small touch goes a long way. After spending an exhorbitant price for our night of celebration it was a small token which was sadly lacking.

Room Tip: We had a room in the house with a view over the lake.A spa room magnificent spacious and quiet. The lake walk was overgrown and unkempt so dont waste your time

Beautiful setting and building, but disappointing in other aspects. With only 5 couples in the restaurant, we had a long wait (and had to ask) for a drink. The food is good but pricey, but it is very disappointing that in this day and age a so called top chef cannot produce anything more inspiring for a vegetarian (there are a lot around ) than Ravioli or a salad. Most concerning was however, that despite a no-disturb sign on the door whilst we were in the restaurant, somebody had entered the room even for the purpose of bringing the (obviously forgotten) free water bottles - that is a definite NO-NO!. All rooms have a centrally controlled temperature which in our case was much too hot, and if somebody else turns on the hot water whilst you are having a shower, be prepared for a cold shock.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry you had trouble with the water during your stay, since your feedback we have had the water sytem investigated and completely fixed. Our menus in both the Formal Dining Room and Brasserie cater for dietary allergies including gluten, dairy and fructose intolerances and now we are pleased to say we have introduced some extra choices for vegetarians. We do invite you to stay with us again in the future and would be delighted to provide a complimentary upgrade for you.

The hotel itself is very nice, great grounds and well appointed room.

The restaurant is described as gourmet which is a joke, the day we arrived the full menu was not available and we were offered a "gourmet" platter. This was OK just enough for two incredibly it only provided one dessert to share. The price however was a truly amazing A$186!

The breakfast was also described as "gourmet" overcooked scrambled egg, burnt toast and low grade overcooked bacon!

Great shame it could have been a good experience.

Thanks for your review. We were disappointed to find that you didn't enjoy your dining. The majority of our diners rate our food very highly. Our dinner platters are offered only on nights when our restaurant is closed. We provide them as a service to guests who prefer to dine in. Our chefs come in especially to provide platters even if it is just for 2 guests. If you would like to enjoy our a la carte or degustation menus we are open Thursday through Sunday each week and longer hours during the peak Summer time.

We stayed here one night and the room was very smart, the house was paceful and the location very attractive. The facilities and in particular toiletries (sourced from the spa) were top quality.

But it came at a price. Whilst the breakfast was probably the best we had in Australia the restaurant only works half the week and judging by the prices going to a reccomended restaurant in nearby Monington was a sensible choice. With the strong Aussie dollar there are few bargains in Australia and Woodmans isn't (and doesn't pretend to be) one of them, but for a night of indulgence or a spa break you can't fault it. A bargain it isn't though.
