We stayed for 5 days and wished it was longer. The hotel is a credit to its staff and owner - absolutely awesome! It is ver modern and honestly I could suggest anything that would make it better. Our room was excellent with great views over the point, beds very big and comfortable. Bathroom, big and clean. The owner has done a magnificent job rennovating this place to make it look and feel funky and modern, and the pool area is terrific.....
Batu Karas is a small village on the beach in West Java, lots of local tourists during the day and quiet at night, a great place to chill out from the chaos of Kuta. Surf was good too (considering we went off surf period). Its like Bali was maybe 20 or so years ago with no hawkers pestering you!
The staff were terrific and attentive when needed, and the prices of food and drinks was really good too. If you like surf, lazing around the pool and beach, a bit more surfing, and doing not much this is heaven on earth! Plenty of day trips if you so desire to keep you amused! We liked it so much that as soon as we got back to Australia we rebooked for next year.
The remoteness of the place works to keep the hordes away - about a 7 hour drive from Jogjakarta on some very dubious roads - but once your there it makes it all worthwhile. I didnt really want to post about this place, like to keep it a secret,, but it is so fantastic that I couldnt help myself.... just do it!!!!!!!
So to Mark the owner and terrific staff - a big cheers from the Gibsons and see you in May (22 weeks and counting down)
