We booked a two week stay here as we love Tuscany and we liked the look of the accommodation on Trip Advisor.
With a variety of ages to please ( A sixteen year old, an eight year old and we were joined for the latter part of the holiday by our 23 year old son and his girlfriend). No one was disappointed and we had a fantastic time.
The accommodation itself was very spacious and clean. We found the rooftop terrace a real bonus, having our evening meals up there on a couple of occasions watching the Tuscan sunset and the breathtaking views over the countryside. The kitchen is well equipped and having the washing machine, iron etc was a helpful addition as we stayed for 2 weeks.
The temperature whilst we were there tipped 34 degrees, and with no air conditioning we found the first night extremely hot. As with the previous review we quickly learned to open the windows during the day and shut the blinds down in our bedroom the sun shone on our room all afternoon. We did remedy this further and went into the local village where we picked up a fan for £18. (You could end up paying this for air con in a hotel, so we weren't too perturbed about it). In fact as we were flying back to England we did leave the fan, so it could still be there :-)
The pool is shared with the other apartment downstairs, an annexe on the owner's house and a villa, but quite often we had both pools to ourseleves as the other familes went out to explore the local area. We also enjoyed a couple of BBQs by the pool.
There are so many places to visit. Lucca is a must (Walled medieval town), Lari, Castilla di Pisa, Pisa - Leaning Tower. The Livorno music festival was on when we were there. we were also lucky enough to stumble on a music weekend in the local village of Fauglia when the Italians bring out there familes to eat and enjoy the music in the square. We also visited the beach at Tirrenia. Lovely and sandy and a lovely place to cool down.
I can't finish this review without a mention to Giovanni and May who were outstanding hosts. I don't think we could have been made more welcome and I was sorry to say goodbye to them. From the offset, they were so welcoming providing us with emergency croissants for breakfast as we arrived late, and then Giovanni took us to Lidls the next day to stock up on groceries. They gave us advice on local events and local restaurants. Also we had a problem with our hire car and the car was taken away thus leaving us stranded. Giovanni stepped in calling the hire company well into the night, he then came to take my husband back to Pisa airport (30 minute drive) to pick up the replacement car at 9.30pm! He was such a star. Both May and Giovanni are helpful hosts, there when you need them, but they leave you alone to get on with your holiday.
I would definitely love to come back here one day.
