An old farm, once owned by Verdi's grandfather. From the outside looks a bit like a ramshakle farm house (thought we had come to the wrong place). Inside, a fantastic mix of highly decorated rooms in 18th Century style with a wonderful collection of modern art. Take a trip to the cellars to see the phenomenal storage of home-produced ham hocks and look for the famous names that have bought them. The food eaten in the gourmet restaurant is ALL home-produced from their own farm, gardens and orchard and is truly out-of-this-world. A wonderful experience. Every mouthful a delight to the taste buds. A limited number of bedrooms are also available but we never tried them.

It‘s an amazing place to feel italian food passion, to taste slow food, to see free-range animals, vegetables beautifully growing in a garden, to admire preserved garden goodies in jars, that adorn the shelves of the kitchen. You will see combination of nature, historical heritage, creativity, rusticity and luxury. Highly recommended.

This was my first time here and I was amazed how perfect everything was. Service was impeccable. Food was perfectly prepared and presented. Culatello is the star here, the visit in the cellar is a must. The aroma of the meat hanging is overwhelming!
I think this is once in a lifetime experience. I look forward to go back.

When you visit Massimo Spigaroli's "Antica Corte Pallavicina" you certainly will taste excellent food, handmade with homegrown ingredients; you will also have to chance to go to a different level of knowledge of the Prince of Italian cured meat: the "Culatello".
If you are lucky, you can have the possibility to spend the night in one of the 6 wonderful junior suites in this small castle on the Po river. The next morning you will have a breakfast that will take you bake to the ancient times and most likely will remind your grandmother or grand-grandmother.
However, there are just parts of what you can find at Antica Corte Pallavicina.
If you take the time to stay, watch, listen, talk to Massimo and breath, no matters if it is a foggy winter day or a sunny summer aftenoon, you will experience the culture of this land. A land of music, food, history, art, and passionate emotions.
This is one of the most authentic contemporary experience of culinary and social tradition I ever had in my life.

We stayed a night here in August: some reviewers have complained about the mosquitoes and the expense, but we didn't get bitten once and you get what you pay for. That is, a lovely experience, quite different from the norm. For our evening meal, my husband declared the tortelli di erbette as the best plate of pasta he has ever eaten. They were silken and fluffy - and very rich thanks to the different aged Parmesans and red cow butter used to dress the pasta.
We liked the absence of TV in our room (there is free wi-fi) and the bed was comfortable. Staff were helpful and we loved the bike tour of the Parmesan factory and local area. The culatelli cantina at Pallavicina is a different activity, no less worth while. I'm sure we'll stay here again.
