We had great expectations for our dinner at Antica Corte. We left with mixed feelings. The restaurant, it must be said, is in a beautiful location and is exquisitely presented. The service is very good, with very friendly and highly attentive staff. The Sommelier was particularly helpful in assisting us in choosing an Italian red wine that not only matched our tastes, but also the meal we had ordered. Our greatest disappointment was in the dishes, especially the main, the black pig entrecôte.

Simply put: glorious food (and by glorious I mean authentic, local delicacies with no unnecessary pseudo-creative frills, and perfectly executed) with friendly service, Mozart background music, a very well selected wine chart and an interesting whisky range to match the dessert.

The building where the restaurant is located, is truly magnificent: the external walls are enormous windows overlooking the courtyard from one side and overlooking the river from the other side; the tables are dressed like a queen; heavy, silver cutlery and glasses of fine crystal; liveried waiters (but if perchance it happens to you to catch their conversation in the kitchen between deliveries, you'll change opinion about their politeness and respect of the customers) and smiling sommelier (but go and take a look in the kitchen without forewarning them: then the cooks will appear much more scruffy and less clean than expected...).

Anyway, in a restaurant the appearance should not be the main interest. The food comes first. And the quality, prices, timing, atmosphere. Well, food is said to be mostly taken from their own orchard (but where are these fantomatic orchards?? in the visits to the property they never show them...) and from the vegetable garden outside the Corte. Hmm, maybe... but, considering the seasonality, I doubt that.
Food is very well put on the plate, with attention to colours and proportions (again, the appearance)... but it's a shame that in your plate the empty space is more than that covered by food! For example, if you order as first course ("specialty of the house") those named "tortelli alle erbette", you will receive five (5!) tortelli in your plate at the fee of 15 euros, so prepare yourself for be paying 3 euro per each tortello... really too much for a pasta simple and poor like that! Carefull also to the meat: it can cost even 25 € for a steak.
Wines: or you choose a renowed bottle from the "carta", and you will pay it a good sum of money, other way the wines of the house are a very poor beverage, pale and watery in the mouth.
Definetely, here everything is overpriced. Here you will eat little and pay very much. That's why I say this is the perfect restaurant for you only if you want a romantic atmosphere (not more romantic than in other places, however...) or if you are more interested in the outfit than in the substance; and, of course, if you have a mountain of money to get away.
Instead, find a "trattoria" in the near town of Zibello, if you want to eat sapid and truly traditional food (expecially meat), and abundant at an honest price.

For someone who comes from abroad this place is unbelievable!
Great environment, an astonishing Culatello Cave downstairs, plus peace and relax all over...
I dined with my family and everything we had was great! A special thanks goes to the Sommelier who combined a very good bottle of wine with our food.
We'll difinitely come back on our next visit to northern Italy.

Service is beyond excellent. Not overwhelming - just perfect. These gentlemen work hard to ensure your dining experience is enjoyable. We stayed on the property and could see them prepare the room and tear down to early morning hours.

If you select a prix menu - be prepared to be there 2-3++ hours. Every course perfectly timed, so relax enjoy every amazing bite.

I don't want to give to much away . . . as not knowing is the big part of the experience, but I assure you the menu is on my top 5 dining experiences. The ingredients fresh of the farm. You can tell that this is a labor of love for the Chef!

Mille Grazie to the team for providing a wonderful dining experience!!
