Hadn't been here for quite a few years and a few things have changed
In the process of upgrading so it should get better
Toilets could have more attention paid to them on a more regular than once a day in peak times
Sites can be tricky to get out of if people camp close to you
Power boxes a fair way away for some sites
Need to fill your water tanks before you get there
Nice setting in the bush with access to the beach
Must book at restaurant but be mindful that they per prepare meals....

Nice friendly staff at reception
It will be good when you can camp outside of holidays or weekends

Noosa North Shore Retreat is a small campsite in a nice location on the North Shore. The campsite itself is quite nice looking onto a small pond with lots of wildlife and birds. The facilties were clean and the swimming pool was nice and the camp spots were not too crushed together.

About 500m from the campsite across the pond is the campsite reception, shop and restaurant bar. It seems the place has new owners who are spending a bit of money to improve facilties. Biggest let down for us was that the bar played karaoke very very loudly on the weekend and from our spot 500m away we could make out every word of the drunken karaoke being sung and it way too loud (and the singing was awful as would be expected from a bar full of drunk people). For a place that claims to be a retreat, this was a big letdown as the music went on to 12am and spoiled the tranqulity of the camp sitem overriding the sound of the wildlife and waves from the sea in the distance

Campsite BBQ was also very poor and would of been much better with a built in gas burner. Instead they have an old portable BBQ that was very exposed to the wind and therefor very difficult to heat up.

Campsite has a minimum 2 night booking which i find strange. I've camped all over Europe and never seen anything like this ever for a tent spot booking. The campsite was virtually empty and so they would most likely improve their bookings if they removed this rule.

This place could easily get a much higher review rating if they cut out the loud weekend music/karaoke and improve the BBQs.

We stayed in a lake view room.
The negatives;
On arrival the receptionist was surly and very unwelcoming... no "enjoy your stay" or "come back if you need anything" ..... not even a smile!
On departure I handed my keys over and told her our room number. After a grunt of recognition she informed me "you've paid in full so thats all" no "goodbye"/safe journey/hope you enjoyed your stay.... not even a thankyou!!!! DREADFUL service!!!!
The room.... VERY basic and old shabby-chic. There were no sheets on the beds, no towels no complimentary toiletries and a stale smell which lingered throughout our stay.
Cockroach (dead) in the saucepan and kettle which spat boiling water everywhere when you poured.
The light in the toilet was out and the sliding mosquito screen didn't really "slide".
The pool had LOTS of leaves/insects on the Saturday morning (although this was cleaned by Sunday)
The spa was out of order for our entire stay
The bar/restaurant closed (before 4:45pm when we went for drinks/dinner) on Sunday because they were quiet despite advertising a "Sunday spit roast"
The pony rides are no longer theres only horse riding for older children/adults
We were told that the kayaks can no longer be hired as the insurance is too much hassle (although we later found them abandoned by the lake with water/sunscreen/oars!?)
The positives;
The wildlife is wonderful. Kangaroos which come to say hello everytime you so much as look out of the window. Kookabooras everywhere, lorikeets so tame they will land on your hand/head/shoulder, cockatoos a plenty and possums.
The lake view is picturesque and the lake calm and tranquil
The beach is beautiful (just watch out for all the traffic)
The pool(s) are lovely and very quiet

We have since found out that this "resort/retreat" is now mainly hired out to schools during the week and this probably explains why everything is very basic and shabby.
Whilst the setting was beautiful the accomodation was poor and the service was dreadful. I wouldn't recommend this as a hotel but they do have a campsite which (depending on the price) may be worth a visit due to the stunning bushland setting.

Pretty basic acc here although many types to choose from. Given the location and it is an island the the prices are way to steep, alcohol is very very expensive, rooms are grubby and feral and the food is average. We had young children so they enjoyed the pools but besides that there is nothing to do really. The beach is close and you would do better camping there.Horse riding is available but at $112( what?) for a horse ride i would rather walk. We won,t come back here and i wonder how this place sustains itself frankly.Must be the $67 for a carton off beer..................................
