We went to Portovino's with few expectations, due to mixed reviews. The restaurant is small - maybe 8 tables inside, and a few outside. The service was casual - one waiter, who was pleasant but not overly attentive (we had to get salt and pepper from another table). The decor is country cafe, no frills but comfy. But the food was delicious, 2 of our group had the veal scallopini funghi at $29 per serve and it was a most generous and enjoyable meal. Our companion had the penne with chicken and was impressed with its flavours. Again the meal was plentiful and a take home container was utilized for 1/3 of the meal. We were not able to contemplate dessert due to being completely sated, in fact we were glad we hadnt ordered garlic bread or entree as we could not have possible eaten any more. We ordered a bottle of wine which was about average restaurant price. We dined on a Friday night and there were 4 other tables of diners, and I gathered some of them were regulars. We will return- perhaps for an entree and dessert next time. Or a repeat of the treat we enjoyed previously. Not fancy, but nice.
