“A delightful little gem of a place”
Reviewed January 3, 2016 for a stay in December 2015

I booked back in August for our family of four (including two boys age 4 and 7) and had excellent communication from the owner, any questions were answered very promptly via email and I found her helpful and easy to communicate with.
When we arrived we received a very warm welcome from Irene and were given a guided tour with clear instructions on where everything was and how it worked, she had very thoughtfully left milk and juice in the fridge and put a treat out for the boys with a lovely welcome card and flowers.
Squirrels End is on the ground floor and is light, fresh, and airy. The colour scheme was pale and calming, there were curtains/blinds at all windows and excellent security measures plus a safe so you felt relaxed and secure. The swimming pool went down very well with the boys who made great use of it. It is not sepreately gated off but it is so close to the front access that it was no issue at all for us. The outside area offered space to sit and eat with lovely thick padded cushions provided for the chairs.
The boys slept in the little room with two single beds. It was very cosy in there but plenty of storage that both their suitcases were easily accomadated within the cupboard even after all their clothes were unpacked. The kitchen had all that we needed in it and the fridge was a nice large one. The bathroom was very spacious with the bath and separate shower. It also had the washing machine inwhich was a real bonus. It was simple to use, had a quick cycle and in my opinion ran very quietly. There were drying racks with peg bags provided and with the beautiful weather drying the clothes outside was no problem at all. (An iron and ironing board were also packed away in a cupboard should you wish to use them.) Thick fluffy towels were provided and in our eight night stay all the towels and bed linen were changed mid stay.
The main room was very large and had two 'two-seater' sofas, a TV and small dining table with two chairs and two folding chairs which we found to be more than adequate for our needs. The double bed was in its own area and a good size and we found it to be very comfortable. There was also a dressing table/desk and chair with plenty of sockets for electrical items. One wall was floor to ceiling cupboards and offered a huge amount of storage. So much that all our clothes were unpacked, two very large suitcases stored away and plenty of space left to create toy and book shelves for the boys and still have space left over!
Irene was always on hand to answer any questions and offer advice. She told us of the children's play area just a one minute walk away and opposite the park was a local resturant, Louis', where we enjoyed a lovely family meal. She had two lovely dogs and you could have as much or as little contact with them as you desired, they were very child friendly and my boys loved giving them a bit of fuss and were sad to have to say goodbye to them when we left.
Just a two minute drive away there was a selection of shops including Woolworths and Checkers for food provisions, Clicks (chemist) and a variety of other shops. There was also the Village Bistro where we enjoyed a very nice breakfast on two occasions.
We would highly recommend Squirrels End and will definitely return when we get to visit Cape Town again.

“Very comfortable, quiet and well accommodated by the owner, Irene”
Reviewed December 10, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

The accommodation was very clean, comfortable and well furnished to provide all the necessities of a self contained unit. It is situated in a leafy, safe area and close to all the amenities but also away from the hustle and bustle of the maddening crowd. Irene made every effort to provide for our comfort and ease of stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay.
