“Our stay at Stillness Manor & Spa”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

It was a nice stay. I planned the stay at Stillness Manor and Spa for my husband's birthday. He really enjoyed it especially the Spa. The Stillness Manor & Spa has a magnificent view of the Cape flat since its place is at the top of a hill in Tokai. This place is very quite, far from the city, for a week end breaks. We enjoyed the lunch served at the Spa. The service is excellent.
Thanks.

The massage was good, but that's unfortunately where the good ended. The massage room was dirty and the empty bath in the room had dirt and dead insects in it. The facilities are tired, the paint is peeling and a number of the windows are broken. The men's toilet was out of order and looked like it had been for a while. The towels are old and torn and the showers in bad condition. I could carry on, but I think you get the point. It's a pity, the location has potential.

There is no excuse for lack of cleanliness but the spa was completely renovated in 2013 and we hope you will like it on your next visit. The (new) Management.

If you want a calm and stunning place to stay- it's here.
We stayed in Feb11 for a couple of days which, after the spa and general ambience of the place, felt like a week. The rooms are magnificent and the views are stunning. It's next door to the vineyards and a short drive to camps and haut bay. I can't wait to go back.

I booked myself and a friend into the spa at Stillness Manor as it was her birthday and I wanted to treat her and it was near where we were staying. The bookings had been mixed up so we could only get half the treatments we wanted and when I complained to the manager nothing was done to fix things or compensate us. The outdoor pool was filthy because something was broken, the indoor pool was cold. There was paint peeling everywhere, the entire area was dirty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. And when we took a shower before we left the shampoo and soap in the bathroom looked like it had been there for ages. I wrote a letter of complaint to the hotel and nobody responded to me. I was so disappointed and wish that we had gone somewhere else.

My friend and I travelled in Kenya and Tanzania 4 weeks prior to our arrival at Stillness. The staff was not only friendly but very courteous and professional, down to the last detail. The Stillness Spa was the best part of our entire trip! The treatments and relaxing environment worth every minute. It was very nice and relaxing to know we were always safe and so was our rental car. It was a comforting feeling coming back to the hotel after a long day of travel, and it was the perfect end to a great vacation!!
I would highly recommend and would for sure stay there again!

The website makei t look like heaven on earth but sadly it turned out to be a dissapointment. There is clearly a finacial problem there and the owner advised us that he retrenched 90% of his staff. It is a pity because the location of the place and the manor house itself is stunning. However, at breakfeast they didn't have x,y and z on the menu plus we were the only people in the hotel. Also its no longer a hotel but now a B&B but unfortunately the website didn't say that. The rubbish which they dumped underneath teh house next to teh pool is also unsightly. The whole situation is very sad because as a boutique hotel, it can be stunning. One thing though the room which we stayed in was beautiful and nothing beats the silence - it really is relaxing.

Stillness Manor is a beautiful historic hotel set in a picturesque location with fantastic views. The staff are all very friendly and eager to make guests feel at home at the hotel and will provide excellent recommendations for everything from restaurants to visit to activities in the region, including wine tours, shark diving, nightlife, golf, etc. The rooms are beautifully furnished and clean. The spa services are very reasonably priced and the staff at the spa are excellent. The only drawback is that you need to have a car as there is no public transportation nearby, but it is a short drive to downtown Cape Town and nearby attractions. The benefit of the location, coupled with the service and amenities of the hotel, is that you feel like you are staying in a private home
