From the moment you drive up to Gravetye you know you are about to experience an absolute treat. The staff attend to everything you would like, making recommendations for food and drink etc inside the hotel and were very friendly and highly professional. We chose the tasting menu which was available for valentines and it was amazing. During winter they have the fireplaces working and it is particularly cosy in the bar and reception room areas. The Bay room is lovely as it is oak panelled, and has windows offering views in two directions over the gardens of the property.

Thank you so much for your review from Valentine’s Day. The Bay room features the original panelling of the house and is a firm favourite with double aspect views of the estate. Kind regards Andrew Thomason Managing Director

We visited for a quick getaway for our anniversary. Lovely garden and grounds which were covered in daffodils. Excellent service at the restaurant. We highly recommend our experience at this very special place and look forward to returning agin soon.

Spring is a lovely time of year at Gravetye and this year the daffodils and bluebells were particularly wonderful. Thank you for sharing this. Kind regards Andrew Thomason Managing Director

For our last night in England before relocating to Barbados we stayed at Gravetye. From the moment we entered I knew we were in for a treat and all the staff should be congratulated on the high level of discreet and personal service we received.
After a walk around the stunning gardens and a drink in the bar (try the St Nicholas rum!) we were treated to a fabulous dinner.
A fitting send off to experience British luxury at its best.

Many of our guests use Gravetye as the first night of their holiday before their flight to Barbados, most tend to stay at Cobblers Cove which has many similarities to Gravetye Manor. I do hope your relocation to the Caribbean is successful. Kind regards Andrew Thomason Managing Director

The building itself is remarkable - ancient but modern. You need to go twice a year, once in the spring summer when the beautiful gardens are full of gorgeousness and once in the dead of winter to enjoy sitting by the crackling log fires. Excellent staff are always helpful, the receptionist even offered to wrap my wife's birthday present when I asked to borrow her scissors. The best room IMHO is Lime, but they have refurbished it with just a shower and no bath! Terrible decision! However the rooms are individual and there are plenty of nice ones with a bath if that is what you prefer. Separate review of the ouch expensive restaurant

Room Tip: Check the bathing arrangements . Sme of the best rooms don't have a bath.

Lime is also one of my favourites but I do however prefer a shower, this Exclusive Deluxe is our only room that doesn’t have a bath, when we refurbished this room we chose to create a large walk in shower big enough for two! Kind regards Andrew Thomason Managing Director

From the moment we were met at our car to the time we walked back to the car, it felt like we were the most important visitors at the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble. The ratio of staff to guests appeared very high.

The hotel was well decorated, the rooms were spotlessly clean with beautiful furnishings and everything had been considered.

We went with another couple and when we were shown to our rooms, the Receptionist took the time to write down the telephone number for our friends room so if we wanted to call them we could.

The gardens were wonderful and the kitchen garden is well worth a visit, so many varieties of vegetables and this was evident when you looked at the dinner menu.

The staff during dinner and breakfast were very attentive. The food was wonderful and we were all glad that we did not order extra vegetables, as we were able to enjoy the 'lemon meringue pie' (which is not a pie but was an inspired variation) and other desserts.

A great weekend and we are already looking for another opportunity to go back.

Stayed for weekend in mid March, weather was truly amazing and helped us enjoy every aspect of this amazing hotel.
The service was amazing, food and wine superb. Pre-dinner cocktails were gorgeous.
My husband had arranged for a mobile spa service to come in and give me a facial and she was very good, I am presuming the hotel helped make the arrangements.
Small but exquisite hotel without bring pretentious - a rare find set in the beautiful Sussex countryside where every guest walked round with a smile on their face.
Thank you to all the staff who made it such a special birthday. Can't wait to revisit.

We made a one-night last minute booking; if only we could have stayed longer! From the warmth of the welcome when we arrived to the manifold charms of the house and the excellence of the food and service, it was all near-perfect. As others have remarked, it is a country house, rather than a hotel. The house has a wonderful distinctive scent of woodsmoke, piles of wellies and magazines for the guests, sinky squashy sofas and chairs....We have often been for lunch over the past twenty years, but never stayed. Now we have, we want to go again!
Apart from a pudding that was a bit over-complicated, there was nothing to criticise; although for those who want a large hotel with pools and shiny new everything, (and I like these things on occasion) this is not that hotel.
Gravetye is very well placed to do lots of exploring of historic properties and gardens; we visited chartwell and Nymans. Perhaps Glyndebourne next time...

Room Tip: We stayed in Ash, which is beautiful, and wonderfully sited, overlooking the rear garden. It has a...
