“Beautiful B&B”
Reviewed May 10, 2010

We stayed here for three nights as part of our last holiday before our baby arrives and we couldn't have chosen a more relaxing place.

The house is lovely, close to Wells and other places to visit. We were lucky and had gorgeous weather the whole time we were there, taking a blanket out into the field and relaxing in the beautiful surroundings with ice creams for the afternoon one day.

Carol, the owner, couldn't have been nicer and made us feel very welcome. We stayed in the four poster room which was very quiet and comfortable. There is a folder of local information in each room, including restaurants and recommendations which we found very useful.

There's a large choice for breakfast which you choose the night before - my husband is now addicted to eggs benedict! Plus fruit, yoghurt and cereals.

This really is a wonderful place to stay and we definitely hope to return in the future.

Just spent two nights staying in "The Stables" accommodation at Beaconsfield Farm and we have nothing but wondeful things to say about Carol and her lovely establishment. We were quite simply blown away by the thought that has gone into making this B&B a very unique, luxurious and fabulous place to stay. The location is brilliant for touring around the area, and the peace and quiet when you come back to your "home from home" gives you the opportunity to get rid of any city stress you may have brought with you. The breakfast hamper delivered to you in the Stables is superb and such a lovely change from the usual eggs and bacon one comes to expect in B&Bs. I really cannot recommend this lovely place more highly -go for it!

We stayed at this lovely B & B last weekend and it really deserves it's 5 stars. The accommodation is warm, superbly decorated and really comfortable. Carol made us very welcome and it was truly better than being in a large hotel. Locally there is so much to see and do and great pubs in the vicinity serving delicious food. We will be back, this time for longer than a weekend.

We booked and stayed in Swallows nest, seperate from the main building. Had all you could need for a bit of piece and quiet with a bit more space. Carol the owner was really friendly and helpful, breakfast was wonderful, excelent value. Breakfast can be arranged to be delivered if staying at Swallows nest and stables, a great touch. Slightly let down by a couple of minor points. A long cobweb by the table, unreplaced used candles in candle holders, clock had a flat battery and shower did not work properly. Located a 7 minute drive from Wells, but closer to Wookey Hole. close to Ebor gorge and some beautiful walks. Would stay there again and recomend too.

I was initially dubious about staying here - it was about 3 miles out of Wells and the website is quite basic.

Don't let either of these things put you off! We stayed in the Swallows Nest and the website doesn't do this place justice at all - the furniture has been updated and the bathroom was about to be renewed. The fixtures and fittings are lovely - very understated and comfortable. It's like a real home from home! And the views are absolutely stunning. It is just a shame that we stayed in October - it would be fabulous sat on the balcony with a few drinks taking in the peace and quiet.

The welcome is fantastic - you get made to feel exceptionally welcome. And even better, you can have a breakfast hamper delivered to the door, which was gorgeous - even including Bucks Fizz.

We went into Wells for dinner and would highly recommend the Boxers Restaurant at the Fountain Inn. The food was fabulous and the service really friendly.

Believe everything everyone else has said and go and stay at the Beaconsfield Farm - superb value for money and a lovely place to chilland relax.

Stayed at Beaconsfield Farm for 2 nights to attend a family wedding at the end of September. I had booked Swallows Nest in advance and can honestly say what a lovely place this is. Swallows Nest is a separate building from the main Farmhouse and is a one bedroom apartment with a balcony that overlooks the Mendip Hills and I could have moved in permanently - every amenity catered for. Carol who runs the Farm is a charming lady and very helpful when it came to ordering taxis for us. The breakfasts were to die for and if you like cats then a special mention to Little Mo who was the friendliest cat I have ever met. A nice touch when checking out we were given a box of chocolates for our long journey home. Will definately be back.

Stayed for 2 nights in one of the two converted barns outside of the main house - The Stables, which has been refurbished to a very high standard - modern but still keeping a cosy feel to it. All modern facilities, lovely large bedroom, lovely decor. I have stayed at hotels/B&Bs in the past and either the hostess was over attentive or not enough - Carole was there if you needed her, very friendly and helpful but not so you didn't feel you could relax. As we stayed in the Barn we did not sample the full breakfast but the continental breakfast delivered to your door at a time of your choice up to 10.30am was just enough to start the day. I could not recommend the Beaconsfield highly enough and would definitely return. Thank you Carole.
