Owner description: Mesmerising, breath-taking, amazing, awesome - just some of the words our visitors use when they talk about RSPB Bempton Cliffs. Around a half-a-million seabirds - including gannets, puffins, kittiwakes and razorbills - flock here in spring and summer to raise their family. Six, safe, cliff top viewpoints give spectacular views of the nesting seabirds and the dramatic coastline. The new Seabird Centre at the heart of the reserve tells the story of the wildlife on the cliffs and why it makes it home here. Three of the viewpoints are fully accessible with a hard surfaced path linking them in a circular route. RSPB Seabird Cruises sail from Bridlington Harbour throughout the season giving visitors an incredible opportunity to see the colony as seabirds swoop and soar all around. In autumn and winter, when mists fall and winds blow, a clifftop walk is a great way to blow away the cobwebs. RSPB Bempton Cliffs is one of the truly unmissable British wildlife spectacles.

Although currently closed due to major improvements (new visitors centre, etc.); you must visit when you can. Wonderful views, majestic seabirds, interesting wildlife, etc., etc.

We've been a lot of times and the bird life on view is always stunning, Gannets, Razorbills, Guillemots and if you time your visit right you'll see puffins as they've breeding colonies there!
They're doing the visitor centre up at the moment (due to complete early 2015 I think) so the reserve is a bit out of action but we'll be going again for sure!

The Bempton Cliffs nature reserve, four or so miles from Bridlington in the East Riding of Yorkshire, provides an astonishing spectacle, for there, between April and August in six miles of 300 ft. chalk cliffs, nestle and breed 200,000 seabirds of almost every kind and in winter there are buntings, sparrows, finches and owls. The cliffs are indeed home to England's only mainland breeding colony of gannets. Even on a cool overcast and windy day in summer, the birds are a sight to behold and never to forget, and a photographer's or bird-watcher's paradise. The only downside - and it hardly matters - is the atmospheric pong that this huge gannetry of gannets, circus of puffins, strop of razorbills, bazaar of guillemots and flock of kittiwakes creates. Bring a camera and binoculars.

Bempton Cliffs is home to the only mainland breeding colony of gannets in England.[1] The birds arrive at the colony from January and leave in August and September.

we didn't see the puffins - they're long gone at this time of year , but we did see a couple of dolphins , so were well chuffed.

We have been many times over the years and it never disappoints.
The scenery and cliffs are spectacular, the birds are amazing and the photography opportunities are endless.
There is a small café there for coffee and cake, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
I thoroughly recommend Bempton Cliffs, but do check out when the birds are there and nesting.
