What a fantastic place to stay. Loved the quiet location but still close to everything. Great hosts Vicki and Roger. Hope to be back soon .
It took a little bit of finding. With limited mobile phone service, and in the very small Quorrobolong, we drove round a little bit before spotting the private access road that leads down to Hunter Hideaway Farm.
But when we found it, it was just what we wanted. Seclusion. Peace. Quiet. Oh, and a very good hot tub that we enjoyed with a chilled bottle of Rosé from a local vineyard.
Talking of wine, we were very happy to have a complimentary bottle chilling in the fridge for us. A lovely touch by the hosts Vicki and Roger.
Take advantage of their recommendations. The "Two Fat Blokes" do an awesome wine tasting tour. And for dinner, the Restaurant 221 in Cessnock (who will pick you up and drop you back off) does an extremely good 3 course dinner.
We can't wait to come back and stay again.
We had no idea what to expect. What an amazing find!! Vicki and Roger had thought of everything a couple of travellers would need with exquisite attention to detail. An incredibly comfortable, well thought out and spacious accommodation in the middle of nowhere but with everything at your doorstep.
The wine tour picked us up from the front door and after a full day of exquisite tasting and purchasing, back to the verandah to cook up a storm on the BBQ, watch the sunset and the appearance of the roos and listen to the beautiful silence.
Thank you Vicki for the art and your attention to detail for which Roger gave you all the credit and thank you Roger for making sure the roos got the memo.

We just finished a lovely three day weekend at the Hunter Hideaway Farm. This was our first time doing a farmstay, so we weren't sure how we would like it.
We are converts!
The Birt's farm is very secluded and quiet and with very little light pollution so the stars are incredible at night. Everything was as described in their site and the hosts were lovely people who were not at all intrusive and we're happy for you to have a nice quiet weekend.
Their farm is massive and we barely saw any of it, but we enjoyed patting the horses.
Even though the farm is quite secluded, the vineyards and town are quite close and we had no trouble getting around at all. We loved all of the pottery and art that was around!
As for the cottage itself - for two people it was heaps of room and the hosts seem to have thought of everything - there were lots of teas to choose from and the like. Couches were comfy and so was the bed.
One of the cutest things we found were the Miner birds. We saw a note about how they like to tap in the windows and true to the note, they were like an adorable alarm clock! It got us up and out seeing things rather than lying in bed (might as well stay at home!).
We also loved the spa. The Birts were happy for us to use it whenever and it was so nice to relax and watch the fog roll in and the sun set.
In closing, we cannot wait to go back. It's the perfect little get away spot!
