The beach front is calm and the water fantastic for wading. Good vacation for family bonding. If you need floaters or toys for building sand castles, please bring them. The resort won't provide these. Lounge chair facing the beach front consist of cheap looking plastic monoblock chairs.

This resort is notorious for charging for everything. You will be charged a fee for bringing in food and drinks. Other guests were saying that the resort charges corkage for the food brought in and eaten at the resort. They check the waste bins in your rooms and charge accordingly. Other guests also say that the resort charges for beach towels. We weren't charged for these though.

Pool looks old and dated. Rooms were recently given a much needed renovation. Full sized pull out beds can be used in each room but the resort charges per head anyway. Service is slow. Food has improved from our last visit but can still be improved much. If you have special dietary needs, just bring your own items to be on the safe side.

All in all, I'd go to this Resort if I wanted a quiet, no frills beach vacation with my family without needing to buy plane tickets.

Room Tip: Get a room near the beach or else you'll have to walk quite a distance.

Stayed during their Pawikan Festival. The hotel has their own Pawikan nursery and releases the hatchlings once they are ready for the sea. The good cause comes in because you become a sponsor of a hatchling and you can let your kids release them at sea. It was an eye-opening and one-of-a kind experience for my family.

The location is the BIG turn off---almost a 5-hour drive from Manila. But once you get to the resort---WOW!!! Excellent beach, excellent rooms, excellent communication of the staff---all excellent!!

Try the jetski---cheaper compared from other beach resorts. Book a massage a day before you plan it since they don't have a resident massage therapist and hire the locals living in the area per booking only. We had our massage fronting the beach---a first for me and my husband. Super nice!!! And if your coming with small kids, they will enjoy the pony ride, the kiddie pool and the playground with a hanging bridge. You can bring kids' stuff like bike and scooter so the kids won't get bored.

Food in the restaurant is so expensive!!! Imagine this---we paid Php16,000 for 3 days/2nights including SET and not buffet breakfast for 4 and paid additional 10k more for the food considering we sneaked softdrinks, snacks and donuts. There is NO near restaurant so you have no choice but to eat inside the resort.

We got the room with the LOFT. Really really nice!!! Can fit even 10 people.

They are strict with beach attires---only swimwear allowed.

The only near tourist attraction is the Las Casas Filipinas Acuzar. That's where the shooting of Zorro took place (a GMA network project). Prepare Php500-600 each person but snacks is already. Ask for directions....there's no street signage, will only be told of landmarks like left turn on the cemetery, right turn on the first store, etc.

Check the local market before returning to Manila! Try their Tinapang Galunggong and Tilapia---taste really really good!!! Don't miss their fruits---cheaper than Manila and fill your tank in Subic---gas is cheaper by 3pesos---a good deal!!!

Be advised that the beds are just two single beds put together and if you are there with you girlfriend or wife no snuggling because someone is on the boards in between. You will have to stay in a suite to have a true King size bed.

Room Tip: Get a suite

So many people manually raking the beach and sweeping leaves, when it can be done with half the manpower with proper equipment. With their prices, I was expecting more value, like wifi in rooms, water kettle, toothbrush, coffee, tea, clothes drying racks, etc.

About a year ago, (June 2010) my wife and I found staying at this overpriced "resort" was an experience we won't forget. The unmistakable smell of mold and dampness permeated the room. We paid about Php4000 for the night...and get this: there was an additional fee to rent theTV!! The furniture was tired and worn. It's seen its day. Swearing we wouldn't be back to stay again, we made a visit there because we were looking for properties in the area as a day trip.. We wanted a beer and a snack. The desk clerk informed us there would be a P2000 fee to go to the restaurant...P2000 for the "privilege" of having a beer?? We turned right around and left post haste , not before I gave the clerk an earful. You may notice for a place that has 80 or 90 rooms, there are very few cars and guests there. It would behoove them to completely restructure their policies and care more for the property. Maybe things have changed since our stay, but we're not interested to find out. The beach is okay, but nothing extraordinary for the price. Caveat Emptor applies here without a doubt.

Even though the La Terrezza room says 5 max, the sales agent was able to squeeze in an extra person for a fee around $25US. The place is great! Large and clean swimming pool with lifeguards. Clean beach that I felt comfortable swimming in (No garbage, sharp shells on the sand. Very shallow water with nice waves.) The food wasn't nearly as bad as people made it out to be. The people at the resort were very helpful. If you're a balikbayan and you're looking to take the family on a fairly impressive vacation without breaking the bank, this place is PERFECT! Btw, you must have a private car or a car with driver to get here. This place is not accessible via public transportation, which is good for maintaining the peace and quiet of the resort.

Room Tip: La Terrazza can accomodate 6 people if you email their sales rep.

Montemar is located in Bagac, Bataan. That's about 2.5-hour car ride from Quezon City. Hotel rooms are located just a short stroll from the beach. Its' shore is kept clean (kudos to the lifeguards) and excellent for sun bathing. Water is calm and shallow. Rooms are newly renovated. De luxe rooms accommodate 2 adults and 1 kid. Gallery rooms accommodate 4 adults and 2 kids. Mind you, they do a headcount when you enter the resort and charge you extra for extra pax. Bringing in of foods and drinks is not allowed or they may impose corkage fee. I believe these rules are to maintain the resort's "exclusivity". As to the restaurant, they've cut down on the number of menu items they serve but jacked up the price. A lot to be improved in this aspect.
This is a family resort and for me the best in the whole of Luzon.
