“Lovely history lesson”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2013

The collection of houses is splendid, and the walking tour taught us quite a lot (our tour guide was quite funny so it made the tour, rainy though it was. all the more enjoyable).

Staff (in period costume) are friendly and helpful. The welcome drinks they provide are highly appreciated, considering that it's a bit of a drive to get there.

Our accommodations were lovely. And MASSIVE. They retain that historic charm (stone walls, wooden floors) while cleverly incorporating all the modern amenities (TV, airconditioning, spacious bathroom, toiletries and linen) one would expect from a quality hotel. Breakfast, served in one of the casas, is a treat.

Las Casas Filipinas is the kind of place you go to when you want to refine your appreciation of this country's culture and history.

PS: During our visit, they were still adding more structures and developing their grounds; all the improvements should make it an even better place to visit soon.

Heard a lot about the historic houses brought here so we decided to give it a go.

The place lived up to its reputation of promoting history. All of the staffers were in local traditional costume (even if it was pretty hot that day). Kudos to them.

We caught up with the last tour for the day and proceeded to see the cultural show afterwards. Being a local, I've seen it all before. The show was nothing extraordinary but still pretty entertaining..

We tried the Italian resto for dinner and the Spanish resto for breakfast and both served good food.

Most of the activities you'll do will be going around looking at the houses, or go walk along the beach (I was told you can swim but we didn't have enough time the next day). You can also go swimming in the pool or try their game area - didn't have a chance to do either.

They did have some shops inside the compound - there was a souvenir shop which sold some pretty good quality items at reasonable prices, and there was also a bakery which served the softest ensaymadas.

I loved our very spacious room with its modern and clean bathroom.

I definitely would come back to this place. Hopefully, by then, they would've finished constructing that huge church. I can already see this as being a destination wedding place - get married in the church, book the casas or hotel rooms for your entourage and guests, have Italian or Spanish food served, and have your post-wedding pics taken around the beautiful grounds. Perfect - now if only it weren't so far... :-)

This heritage resort is absolutely one of the best places to see in this country! You have many room and house options to choose from. Rooms are just amazing and bathrooms are massive! The space is just ridiculous, you can move freely its just wonderful! The tour is excellent, its really helpful so don't miss out on that. Food is quite expensive serving ofcourse mainly Filipino food but it tasted great. Loved the pool and the sea. It's just absolutely amazing, you have to be there to see it. We stayed for a few days and was worth it. Day tours plus lunch are available as well.

Our family frequently visit this heritage resort because my mom is a member (every 4 mons.) We make sure to get their executive suite because it is very huge and cozy, yet very reasonable price. The executive suite is 3-storey. The ground floor has dining table, bathroom, and sala. The second floor is for the masters bedroom with bathroom and the 3rd has 2 double size beds (you have the option to add extra bed with no additional charge) The swimming pool Is just for children (coz it is so shallow). The beach is quite far from the rooms. You have to pass through a bridge first before getting into the beach. You can also join the free tour in the casas. You will be amazed on how the casas was formed and really the place is so peaceful. It's as if you're time travelling! You'll definitely go back here!

The two and a half hour trip from Metro Manila was well worth the effort, once we entered the grounds of the resort and let the nostalgic scenery soak in. We felt transported back in time to a period our grandparents talked about as being "the good old days," when a more genteel pace dictated the way of life.

The buildings housing the guestrooms are all historic originals transported and rebuilt on the resort, with the addition of modern amenities. As such, if you're a fan of sleek, modern design, you may find the place a little too antiquated for your tastes. However, that is the whole point of this resort, and takes pride in it.

There are a couple of restaurants on site, both of which serve excellent food with a high level of service. Notably, the Italian restaurant has an authentic brick wood-fired oven that produces really, really good pizza. Dinner at the native/Spanish themed restaurant is accompanied by a duet serenading the diners, which makes for an entertaining as well as satisfying meal.

An after-dinner stroll around the grounds provides a relaxing way to end the day while soaking in the quaint, historic ambience.

Our guest rooms (Cagayan cluster) were spacious and well appointed. The beds were a bit high, and took a bit of getting used to, but were very comfortable. The airconditioning in the rooms was powerful and cooled the large rooms comfortably. The only thing we didn't like was the absence of soft sofas to sit on, as the sitting room furniture was all solid wood, making watching TV from the bed almost compulsary.

All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay, and made a mental note to take friends and relatives visiting from abroad to the resort to get a nostalgic taste of life in "the good old days."

Room Tip: If you're vacationing with kids, choose a room near the swimming pool (Cagayan Rooms) which is j...

We bought a groupon for 6 adults and got a huge 3-storey executive suite. It was really nice and cozy. However, they were still painting the wall at backside of our suite, and the smell of paint went inside until it became too strong and suffocating for us to bear. They transferred us to a similar suite when we asked them but this could have been avoided from the start.

Nevertheless, the staff is very accommodating, the food is good, and we enjoyed our stay very much because of the great view and ambience. Looking forward to go back here probably next year, after completion of their St Joseph Church replica, and other hotel developments.

The old houses here were uprooted from wherever they were from and rebuilt here. Most were from Luzon, with only a few outside. It would have been nice if they had included more old houses from the Visayas and Mindanao but then again, the farther it is, the harder to transfer. Those houses that were rebuilt, however, were very nice, and in one place. I just do not understand how they could place a jacuzzi in one of the old houses. Sure, the future plan was to make these houses into hotel room types, but come on, a jacuzzi? Since when did 100 year old houses have jacuzzis? The lunch that was provided was average, nothing extraordinary.
