“Best Fishing Trip Ever!”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

We spent four nights at Nootka Sound Resort. The staff was great, the guides were very friendly and knowledgeable, I have to say Chef Kimberly did an amazing job, every meal was top notch and the deserts were incredible. We fished three days in mid June and caught limits of salmon and halibut every day. I will definitely be going back next year.

Room Tip: Second floor water front rooms were very nice.

We have been fishing in British Columbia for a number of years now. This year, we were not able to fish the Haida Gwaii region and opted to try the northern Pacific coast of Vancouver island. We were not disappointed. Arriving at Nootka Sound Resort from Seattle on a excellent charter with Northwest Seaplanes at 2:15 in the afternoon, we were greeted by the entire staff at the resort who unloaded our luggage and showed us to our "houseboat". We were lodging in the Executive Quarters, a separate house with 3 bedrooms with private balconies, a kitchen (which went unused), a living room with flat screen tv, dining area and bathroom with shower and washer and dryer.

After dropping off our luggage, we were given a lunch bag and we were off to fish. There are a variety of fishing packages available (guided and unguided) and we were fishing 4 days (5 hours, 10 hours 10 hours and 5 hours). Each group is assigned a guide and all gear in our case was provided. No mustang suits required at this location as the weather in July was beautiful.

While the fishing was spectacular, the accomodations were even better. The food (cooked by the most-talented Kimberly) each day was bright, tasteful and plentiful. Each evening when coming back from fishing, you are greeted by the staff including Kimberly who takes a break from the kitchen and the staff assists you with pictures and whisks off your catch for processing (included in the rate). Then you are welcome to sit by the fire pit, enjoy a beverage and appetizers while you wait for dinner. Dinner was delightful each evening and 5 star restaurant class. Each member of the staff goes out of their way to make sure your every need is attended to.

While it is remote, this trip was everything we had wished for and more. We plan to return next summer.
