We drove there by our rental bike from the city in Chiang Mai, the way to get to the hill was quite slope and narrow. You need to be careful, if you will driving there. There were many good local home-stays and restaurants along the way in the mountains as well. We rented a room in Mon Jam for around THB2500 for 1 night, the room was simple with private bathroom and balcony where you can see stunning view. Nothing much to do there, just to relax and enjoy the nature. In the morning the weather was quite cold, and quite before the time many outside tourists arry. They also got a restaurant there, the food was ok, not so many choice. The price was not cheap or too expensive. Also, they don’t accept any card there, just cash. Please be prepared, because the ATM is down the hill. We had to drove down the hill to get money and to buy drink and snack for the night. So, if you are planning to stay there long please make sure you got everything you need before get to the Mon Jam.

All I can say is we went at 5 am and it is worth the drive up the mountain. You take a local truck up the mountain and watch the mist go across the valley and drink locally grown tea hot from a Chinese cooking kettle.

Only from November to January, is good time to go. Parking management is poor. More difficulties in peak season.

Had a great time going to Mon Jam. Hired a private van to take us to go see the sunrise. It was quite foggy, so we didn't really get the full view, but it was still quite scenic.

There was a traffic jam early in the morning at the top, until the gates opened. That allowed us to browse the stalls that were close to the entrance. If you do happen to forget a jacket, you can easily pick one up at one of the stalls. A jacket is strongly suggested, especially since the early morning in the mountains can get pretty cold (it was between 12-15 degrees C when we went in January).

The wooden "go karts" are cute, and not unreasonably expensive to try... but they are super bumpy, and be careful bombing down the road as a few people did crash... but no injuries.

The restaurant and cafe at Mon Jam are pretty good. The cafe had exceptional coffee, albeit small in size.

On the way down from the mountain, there are also a lot of really cool things to see (food stops, an out door market, zip lines, etc.)

Good view of the surrounding mountains - probably a a bit overwhelmed with too many people. We bought Hmong tribe made outer wear for very cheap price and local plants (maybe snow lotus?) from a local tribal girl who's carrying young baby on her back for US$3 for 3. Rather juicy and crisp.

It takes 1.5 hour driving from city to reach Mon Jam. It's comfort ride during the journey, There's lodge of stop over for drinks and food along the road. The weather is perfect in January sunny with little windchill. Blue clear sky uphill with magnificent view of landscape. Feeling fresh and energised after visit such a beautiful place.

A lovely place which is not far from Chiang Mai. You may take photos with hill tribe people who live nearby. It has a restaurant, depends on the weather you can sit outside and even do your own picnic.
