This place has soul -- which is why is it ever so peaceful to be here, so renewing...

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Dec 25, 2018
From the moment you have stopped settling in, and you stand outside, and you breathe in the clean, clear air, and you stand facing the mountains -- the foothills of the Himalayas-- you can feel the stillness here at Suansawan -- its sense of deep peace. There are all of the very old and young trees and plantings which contribute to this gift of grace, along with a lake, and an arched bridge, as well as rooms which carry a faded elegance to them. She offers relief from the techno-sanitized world, that world of supposed "perfection," which is not truly a human one, which has little to do with what really makes our hearts open and sing. This is a quiet true gem of a place to come. There's a thoughtfulness to its offerings. It will renew all of you.

This place is large. Pool, Spa, Restaurant and retirement home. The grounds are gorgeous, look at the photos. Sounds great, right? Well, I can only speak for 1 room. And the restaurant. Both of which disappointed. Shabby and seen better days. If you don’t care, it’ll be ok, because they don’t either.
I got the feeling someone was playing golf when they should have been paying attention.

Aloha and Mahalo to the Amazing Manager, Chefs, two female waitresses and one male employee on Reception. Last but not least the dedicated hardworking housekeepers and one main gardener who go above and beyond their call of duty and sooo kind I would not hesitate to offer these very few employees employment with me!!! I pray that the Owner knows and appreciates about his right hand lady Pia who works tirelessly 24/7 to keep this beautiful resort running which cannot be done with one Manager or without an experienced Mature night Manager to ensure all employees working (not on cellphones watching movies). Showing respect not just retirees but guests who could be SECRET RESORT SEARCHERS for many worldwide clients!!!!! I cannot write a further review until I meet with the Manager as it would not be a fair review.

Because of your Manager Pia and Housekeepers I would have left sooner than expected as I had been hospital for a number of months and this was my recovery time! I am hopeful after meeting with the Owner this will become once again an amazing Resort but as the saying goes “IT TAKES A VILLAGE”! This can only happen with hardworking, respectful, professional Employees who are willing to work as a team and should feel blessed and thankful for their employment which includes their lovely meals prepared by amazing Chefs!
Lady Suansawan” Resort deserves the best and to be respected by all and taken loving care of with heartfelt love!!!

First stop during our motorbike trip in Myanmar. It is a big bungalow resort and has a lot of garden space. It seemed to have some retired expat residents living there. A peaceful resort not to far from Chang Mai.

I couldn't be more disappointed with my stay here. Non-refundable and we are leaving anyway. Not worth staying for free. Ants all over our room. Spider webs on our bed. Breakfast was terrible. Only one restaurant menu not two. Bars are dead with no people. Same for pool. This is essentially a retirement home/hospital rehab center. Old people everywhere. I like old people but I don't want to travel 24 hours from America to sit around and watch the elderly be taken care of. Not close to chiang mai attractions at all. Bikes all suck and need new ones, mopeds are expensive, nothing in walking distance, chiang mai main attractions are 30 mins away. Lake is more like a smelly dirty pond. The website was so deceiving... I feel like I was betrayed and my wallet was raped!!!

I absolutely loved this place. I have been to many 5 stars, but wouldn't swap any hotel for this place. It is a little tired, but that is the most negative thing I can say about this place. It is so peaceful, the grounds are beautiful, with the lake and the 2 swimming pools. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the staff were amazing. They have small individual villas for each of us, where you walk out the front door to look at the banana trees or the lake or the grounds. They have a spa, which we tried and found a really good selection of massages and the staff gave a great service. Will definitely visit again!

Room tip: Any of the rooms would be great, but I suppose nearer the reception and restaurant would be maybe a good idea
