This place was above and beyond expectations! Granted, it is not the Four Seasons (which is right around the corner), but the service and food is every bit as good. The property has been around for a while...is being updated gradually...but is more than you could expect for the money. Transporation to local attractions, food is off the charts, people here are unbelievable...great, great, great way to spend your money!

We rented a motorcycle in Chiang Mai, and used that to drive out to Mae Rim, about 45 minutes drive. It made exploring the area very easy. The rooms are decently appointed for the price range of the hotel. Our room had a nice balcony with chairs and a table. Didnt try the pool, but it looked very inviting.

The most appealing aspects of the hotel was the friendly nature of the staff and the food, some of the best in Thailand without a doubt. Breakfast in the morning was delicious, and the unusual items on the menu were very tasty. We received a coupon for free cookies made at the bakery on site, which were a very nice treat!

Stayed here for 3 nights with our 5 year old son. It was soooooo relaxing. The staff is fantastic and was so eager to help us get around. They brought us to an elephant camp and a beautiful waterfall for less than a local taxi quoted us. The bakery was great... the croissants and cookies were delicious. The food was reasonably priced for a hotel. If you want a really relaxing and wonderful vacation, come here!

Room Tip: The mini suite has 2 beds and was great for our family..

We had a great stay here with our children, who especially enjoyed all the outdoor fun (small playground, rowboat, and general time on grass). The food is superb -- up there with any restaurant in Chiang Mai or Thailand, for both western and Thai dishes.

Rooms are very basic -- don't come here for great TV or wifi (although the lovely outdoor spots all have good reception -- just not in all rooms). -- come here for the lovely, peaceful outdoors.

Recommended day trips -- walk the grounds at the Four Seasons across the street, go to the Mae Sa waterfalls, insect museum, and other things in Mae Rim. Hotel can manage to get you around if you don't have your own wheels.

Breakfast is basic but good. The hotel restaurant makes fantastic espresso, if you're done with instant! (and croissants, cookies, pies, etc).

Room Tip: lagoon view definitely best.

Had a team retreat here over three days. Great place to get out of the city for a few days, breathe clean air and enjoy wonderful food. Grandma's Kitchen really is unique...there were dishes served that were new to all of us. Standard rooms are great for a couple and one small kid in a portable crib. Any more and it might feel cramped. However, the triple suite was absolutely huge. although we had to pay for two extra beds (450 baht per night per bed w/breakfast included). Agoda does not do a good job of describing the suites in my opinion. You would be better served to call the hotel and ask for Boat (owner). She was around often and speaks fluent English.

They are also giving away free cookies from their bakery for newly arrived guests. I recommend the Peanut Butter Surprise...

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the Lagoon, not the pool.

We were recommended this hotel and decided to book because of its location and price. We didn't really know what to expect but were delighted when we arrived. I travel on a triple share basis with my parents regularly and I often get the dodgy foldaway bed...not here!!! A gorgeous, spacious room with THREE king single beds located perfectly to give a little privacy to all. Food has been delightful, staff attentive and location perfect. A great recommendation. Thanks to ll at Mae Rim Lagoon for a wonderful 6 days

I have taken my elderly parents for a holliday and stayed here for a couple of nights. It was our best experience of the trip. For start the price was very atractive and we did not expect much. However, we were overwhelmed. The surroundings are fantastic, the atmosphere unbelievable and the luck of english was rather not a problem due to very genuine and friendly staff. My parents are even harder to please then myself, but we simply could not fault the place. ... Do not tell them, :-) but now, knowing the place I would pay even more to stay there. Very pleasent and enjoyable experiance. The only downside for some may be the 15 km from the centre of Chiang Mai, but there is a lot of to see near by anyway. If you after peace, nature and pleasent environment this is your place. But if you city junkie it may not be your cup of tea. however Perfectly suitable for honeymooners as well as families or elderly couple... hope this review helps
