“Misleading Information”
Reviewed February 18, 2014

If you wish to book here please make sure you check the amenities offered. My husband booked this hotel for my 40th because on the booking site it offered swimming pools, massage facilities, golf club, spa, sauna amongst other things. Only by chance did we discover that the facilities offered was a nice area for walks and backgammon. This was due to my husband ringing asking what time we could use the facilities from. We complained to Travel Republic who we booked through and they were excellent in trying to sort out the problem. The hotel manager on the other hand who is responsible for the site refused to allow us a cancellation and said we had to pay 100% cancellation fee even though he was mis-selling his hotel. In the end Travel Republic came through and no fee was charged but amazingly the website facilities were altered within 24 hours. Obvious to us he just wants the money. £100 for one night is pathetic especially when the onsite restaurant is closed on a Monday night (the one night we were stopping) and most eating establishments in the surrounding area were also closed. I'm sure its a lovely place with lovely scenery but the attitude of the owner was appalling.

Misleading information is a great title for this review as that is exactly what this review is full of. We are a small hotel in mid wales and so no we do not have a golf course or spa. On all of our own literature and that of the main booking websites (late rooms, booking.com) this information is checked and verified by us. However Travel Republic who this lady booked through have not had any information verified by us. We are not in control of the information they have on their website and were unaware we were even shown on their website. Also the cancellation policy is their own and so if the lady had got in contact with us directly we would have been able to cancel her booking with no charge. We do find it amazing that this review is even allowed to be on trip advisor as the lady didn't stay or indeed book with us and the information she has provided is totally incorrect. I have asked if she would take the review down and would like to offer her the chance to come and stay at our hotel, where as people can see from our reviews is a really lovely place to stay.

The food here was good. The hotel staff were very good and very welcoming. The room was to a good standard. You can tell there is still room to improve on decor for example there are lots of plywood doors going on but then other parts of the hotel are lovely and the quality of the furniture in the rooms needs to be kept in line with a hotel not ikea. The only negative would be that I was freezing in the bar area where there is a wood burner it would have been nice to see that on and the curtains closed as it was a very cold night. The breakfast was outstanding. I would definitely return.

This is a lovely hotel in a beautiful location. All the staff were attentive and obviously very keen to make their guests feel at home. Our room was well equiped and very peaceful. The dinner and breakfast were superb. Would happily stay again.

I stayed here to attend a conference the next day at a nearby venue. I arrived late and was off early, so can't comment about the B&B as a holiday venue, although the grounds looked lovely and the in-room hotel guide did map out some local walks, which were appealing.

I arrived after dark, and as a London resident the first thing I noticed was the starry night sky. I have holidayed in rural north Norfolk but never seen so many stars. Beautiful!

The chap who checked me in was helpful and friendly - and was just as helpful and friendly when he was still there in the morning! The room was a decent size, plenty of plugs, a good-quality small TV, perfectly good shower room.

The breakfast was perfectly nice, making good use of local ingredients too, which was a plus.

I might go back to stay for pleasure.

Have stayed here the last 2 years on business for one night and enjoyed my stay. Beds were comfy, though the televisions are a bit small (only a minor point). The bathroom is a little pokey but again does everything you need. Breakfast included cereals and also a choice of hot foods (the omelette was good) and there are several main meals available of a night time, all for quite cheap. The grounds surrounding the hotel are relaxing and picturesque, with a lake etc. that you will see on the pictures. Overall I enjoyed my stay.

Recently had a one night stay with friends. Was made very welcome, nothing was too much trouble, extremely friendly staff. Nice little touches in the room, bottles of water by the bed. Crisps, cakes and chocolate with the tea tray. Two easy chairs in front of the TV which had a dvd player. Little touches that make a difference. Lovely little bar, well stocked and prices reasonable. The hotel is set by a lake with lovely views and very quiet. Then there is the food, that was fantastic, reasonable prices but so well cooked and presented with divine tastes. A lovely breakfast was also served. Can't wait to return.
