“You're missing the point”

This is the heart of the village, its a country pub it isnt meant to be a gastronimal delight. If you want a good wine list then go to a stuck up wine bar and dont forget to sit up straight while you drink.

The owners of this place will make you feel welcome until the little hours of the morning, feed you beer from a tap and talk when there isnt anyone else there. There is no dress code and all are accepted for who they are, they are a non judgmental good fun couple.

“Lost for words”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

We walked in to what seemed a very unwelcoming entrance hall way. The room on the left in total darkness, on a Saturday night, down to the kitchen before we realised we had missed the bar. I asked for the wine list then a very young uninterested lad showed me one bottle of red wine thats the choice. The food menu was not any better it was very very boringly nothing. Im sorry if they just want other customers, than just the hardy regulars congregating at the one end of the bar, they must try to offer something else. If not they are doing a good job.

“Not Impressed ...”
Reviewed June 29, 2011

Five of us found this pub whilst looking for somewhere to eat in the early evening of Sunday 12 June 2011.

We were seated in a separate dining room. The menu offered a number of standard pub meals at good prices. Service was prompt. Food was, unfortunately, rather poor – “chips with everything“ including a very stodgy lasagne.

The Campaign for Real Ale‘s Web site states that the Crown was redecorated in 1997; the decor gives the impression that it hasn‘t been touched since.
