“Delayed flight”
Reviewed March 18, 2014

We were put in this hotel by Blue Islands as our flight to Jersey was cancelled. Very nice hotel on whole although bedrooms when you look closely have been done on the cheap and the one we had was very dark. Bed was extremely comfortable, food in restaurant was excellent as were all of the staff. I would recommend this hotel

Nice hotel, friendly helpful staff, clean and good facilities. Very handy location for the M5 and Bristol airport. Only negative would be the breakfast which was a bit cold and served on cold plates, we did come down 30 minutes before end of breakfast but when you pay £10 each for breakfast it would be nice if it was warm!

The hotel is published much higher then it is. It looked a bit run down. Some rooms require to go up and down the staircase or elevator to bypass the restaurast. Restaurat was very expensive comapred to quality.

went away for our annual night out with friends we will not be going back. Dinner was very average the room was hot and when you flushed the toilet it sounded like a pneumatit dill was coming through the roof for the next 5 minutes

I stay at this hotel at least twice per year and they getting everything right, every time. Warm and friendly at check-in, great service in the bar, lovely meal in the restaurant. I always check out at 6am to depart for Bristol airport and I always get prompt and friendly service. The rooms are very well appointed, but maybe the signage could be improved as you make your way around the hotel.

In March we had a special 60th birthday lunch in the Marco Pierre White restuarant - a cover of 23 on a Sunday, and it was a total disaster for the following reasons:
1. Having one unisex (and disabled) toiled available for the whole resutarant and bar area was just not enough - queues were awful and there was no signage to direct you to any other bathrooms.
2. Service at the bar was a) very slow, b) the staff were really inexperienced, c) they had no idea what to charge you.
3. The quality of the roast dinner was very poor, there was very little meat presented atop a pile of salad (not vegetables). Any vegetables (mainly carrots) were served not al dente but almost uncooked. All the food looked pretty, but was sadly lacking in contents. It tasted very mediocre and for it's price, it was a real disappointment. Condiments etc did not arrive until 20 minutes after the main was presented. Roast potatoes were a particular disappointment.
4. After ordering it took 1 hour and 20 minutes for the main courses to arrive. The beef turned out to be a miserley single slice, and the pork was little more than a bone in, rind on, pork chop (from an obese pig!). After the debris from the main course was cleared from the table, and pudding was ordered, another hour passed before they appeared.
5. Pudding was horrible. There were 4 options - chocolate mousse, trifle, cheese board and bread and butter pudding. None of them a re terribly difficult to prepare, and they were all - without exception - awful. Of a cover of 23, there were maybe 2 finished dishes, the rest were left.

To conclude, the staff were lovely, service was sluggish to the point of slothenly, the food was a real disappointment, and the price was excessive for cheap cuts of meat and piles of leaves. Unfortunately, this restaurant really did not live up to either the Hilton or Marco Pierre White names in anything but price.

Amusingly we've just been offered 1/2 price afternoon tea at the same place, which we happily turned down!

Suggestion for MPW - stick to the stock cubes!

Chose this hotel for a winter break and to visit family in the area. Whilst the room itself was ok the bathroom with a window was strange. Went down to the bar to look at menu to discover a distinct lack of seating so left and went to a very good Indian restaurant in the village (highly recommend). The decor in the whole hotel was distinctly dark and somewhat oppressive. We were looking forward to eating in the Marco Pierre restaurant but on reading the menu found it to be pretentious, overpriced pub grub. Chose to eat in the spa lounge instead. Great food, service and price.
